ABOUT ME

My friends call me Lola! I am a dancer and an educator here in Chicago and I really enjoy live music and art as well. I like to travel to places and experience the people that characterize that place.

I don't know much about movies. My favorite chick flick of all time is When Harry Met Sally. I also enjoy P.S. I love you, 27 dresses, Goodwill Hunting, Mrs. Doubtfire, School of Rock.

I like a lot of different music. I listen to a lot of alternative, indie, some punk rock, I'm a sucker for acoustics. I dabble in early 2000s r&b. I have a spotify account where you can follow playlists I've made and see what I've been listening to. you can find me under Lauretta Marie.

I love to read. Poetry, children's books, YA fiction, you name it. My favorite author is Jodi Picoult. I love that she writes from different points of view without a completely omniscient narrator. My most recent read is "A People's History of Chicago" by Kevin Coval.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Over a summer I studied abroad in Brazil and was able to partake in a lot of cultural celebrations and dance. I learned a lot about the people and what matters to them and I learned a lot about how privileged I am to have come from where I have. It really changed the way I view what I do when I was able to see that although I didn't speak Portuguese, I was still able to connect with people through dances and just being together.

I can teach various styles and techniques for dance, as well as yoga, Pilates, and barre toning. (I love fitness!) I can teach one on one or to a room full of folks, whatever works!

I am practicing and learning Spanish.

I can share stories, I love to tell them.

I can cook or clean. I can also watch children, or help with other odd jobs, in addition to teaching yoga or other fitness approaches.
