About Me

Hey, I'm Laurie, I'm from Glasgow in Scotland (don't worry, I've been told my accents intelligible?). I've been living in Madrid for the past two years, where I've been teaching at a primary school.

I'm an avid adventurer. Ever since I was a little girl, travelling has been my passion. There is nothing i love more than packing up a backpack and experiencing new cultures, making new friends, trying new food and a beautiful sunset in a new city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I thrive off of meeting new people from different places, with different stories to tell. Couchsurfing seems like the perfect way to meet people who truly know the city and all its little quirks and hidden gems :) Also more than welcome to return the favour if you ever find yourself in Madrid!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love everything from the Stones, to Mozart, to Jay Z and Morrissey. Always open to hearing new music :)

I am also a bit of a bookworm, with my favourite authors being Orwell, Bukowski, Kerouac, Oscar Wilde and I am also a massive Game of Ice and Fire fine, so if you're interested (or as much of a geek as i am) i can happily spend hours discussing the various theories haha

As for movies, I absolutely Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams at his best. I also love Scarface, The Godfather, Lord of the Rings (best trilogy ever), Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, Snatch, Batman: Dark Knight Rises and Momento.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel one of the coolest things i've done, has been living in Madrid for the past 2 years where I've been working at a primary school teaching english. While teaching english to a wild bunch of 7 year old niños can be exhausting work its also extremely rewarding. Aside from school, my time teaching has allowed for me to live in this incredible city, learn a new language, make friends from all over the world, see places i never thought i would and of course have far too many delicious meals. Without a doubt, the time I've spent here and travelled around Spain has been incredible.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Malaysia, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
