Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I signed up in couchsurfing because of the amazing stories from a friend, I started to enjoy it during my time studying abroad in the US to meet local
people and other travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My good friend Alex told me about how CouchSurfing was making his experience in Europe very special and unique. I joined the website but it wasn't until 2010 when I became more active and participated in language exchange meetings, some sports at the beach, showing around my city to visitors and having a great time enjoying the little places that only the locals know about. While studying in Oklahoma, my roommate and I surfed for the first time in Miami. We were hosted by amazing people. The hospitality and open-minded, non judgamental aspect of this loving travel people is what makes it great!!

One of my favorite Couchsurfing experiences was during a hike around Cuenca, Spain. We were a big group (about 20 people), and the hike was long. We were walking from town to town, enjoying the landscape when it started to rain a lot. We ran towards the tiny town next to us, and luckily there was a woman with a little kid who invited us inside her little house. It was pretty funny, all of us inside that tiny living room with low ceilings; but the lady was very sweet and she prepared coffee, pastries, and fruit for all of us. We had great conversation and shared stories. When it stopped raining, we helped her unload her car of groceries and gave her some tips for her "posada". That selfless sharing essence is what I most love about CouchSurfing because you can find many people that see the world in a kind way.

The neverending story

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing feelings I have experienced is being on the top of a mountain hearing the stillness of nature and breathing the fresh air.

Another one was the moment when I stepped into the Caribbean Sea. I will never forget that feeling when I jumped off the boat and I got to experience the liveliness of the Reefs and the imposing depth of the ocean.

A very special place for me is Vrijthof square, in Maastricht. I studied and worked in this city for a semester, and it was the begining of a completely new adventure for me.
