ABOUT ME
joe and i are two easy-going people (joe being one of the most laid-back people i've ever met) who enjoy living, loving, and learning. we were both bitten by the travel bug almost 10 years ago when we met in ireland. we always have an itch to see more, meet more interesting people, and explore. we recently (december 2011) returned from our long travels around latin america, asia, and the western US and are now finally settled in portland, maine. other than travel, we're always looking for a good place to kayak, hike, camp, etc., always enjoy a decent brew or a good glass of wine, and love all company, including pets and our awesome pup, foxxy brown cleopatra :) most importantly, we try to live by the words of vonnegut: "we are here on earth to fart around. don't let anybody tell you different"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
we got into the whole idea of couch surfing before we started our world travels in april 2010. now we open up our home to surfers in our new home of portland, maine.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
we've unofficially couchsurfed while traveling around the united states (hasn't everyone? :). before we started our world travels we hosted a few groups of people and then officially got our feet wet as true couchsurfers in central america, south america, new zealand, and the western US.
Interests
we're music junkies...kind of addicted to having music around us at all times.
and any excuse to discuss ireland is ok in our book (or latin america or new zealand for that matter :)
oh...and good microbrews are always on our 'must-see' list while traveling - our vision is to start up our own B&B/brew pub once we save up some more money :) for now, portland offers a TON of good local brews.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
quite a few on that list. but we'll go with these two...
- we were chased by a mother elephant on a jeep safari in the state of kerala, india. not recommended :)
- climbing volcan villarrica in pucon, chile. 1000 meters up to the top with crampons, ice picks, the steepest climb ever, and ridiculously cold wind. crazy!
