About Me
Hi Couchsurfers !
After traveling for a year around Asia we decided to settle down in Paris ... before moving out again to Cuba next January!
We created a blog to share our thoughts about our various travels as well as life in Vietnam where we used to work. Since our audience is only composed of our moms (haha) it's in French, but you can have a look at the pictures :)

Thanks to CS we had the opportunity to meet incredible people and live the unexpected. We now wish to continue the experience by hosting again in La Habana.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Before moving to Ho-Chi-Minh-City for 3 months we were quite excited and anxious at the same time. We didn't know anything about Asia but we expected a culture choc. We decided to subscribe to CS and looked for a local to host us for a couple nights to show us around. It turned out that we were feeling so good with our host that we stayed for more than a week. We had the best time ever!
Now this "host" is our friend. We spent 3 months together and he visited us in Hanoi recently. We plan to meet again somewhere in Europe next year.
... This story sums up pretty much why we are on Couchsurfing ;)
Interests
- Fishing: we're both Mediterranean people and fishing plays a very important role in our hometown (Marseille)
- Cooking, barbecues: After a long day fishing and sun bathing it's good to cool down with friends around a nice BBQ. If we get to meet, we will introduce you to some nice recipes ;)
- Playing cards: We never bet money but we can play all night long. There's a famous game originally from Marseille that we can teach you "Contrée". Very addictive!
- Meeting international people: We lived in England, Portugal and Vietnam and we always shared houses with international friends (Columbia, Poland, Spain, America, Vietnam...). When traveling, we always look for local people to learn new traditions, food, languages. Our next travels are HK and Japan and we expect a lot from these new destinations!
- Sports: climbing, running, Vovinam (Vietnamese-style kung fu), boxing, long walks in the nature, fitness
- cooking
- fishing
- sports
- barbecue
Music, Movies, and Books
From Hannah Arendt to Harry Potter, our bookshelf is rather eclectic. It actually depends on the mood. When overloaded with work, we like chilling with comic books (Tintin) or reading and writing poems (Laury). We're also keen on reading good quality journalism (rare nowadays) such as Arrêt sur Images.
When it comes to music, we love world music, latin and African especially. Ophélio has Malagasy roots and grew up listening to African music (Cesare Evora).
Movies/series: The Cohen brothers, Marcel Pagnol, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, House of Cards
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
~Quite recently we were on our way to Ha Giang province in Vietnam to spend the week-end with our friends when the bus's engine broke and went on fire. We were at the back of the coach so that we were stuck in the smoke. Then we went out and waited with the others passengers for the bus to be fixed.
It was around 11pm and we were in the countryside, therefore we knew we had to wait for a long time. Suddenly, we heard some noise and saw some light coming from the other side of the road. We approached to see what was going on and ...
Surprisingly there was a wedding being celebrated and we got invited by the family to join the party. That was worth the wait and the fear! We drank and ate with the family. That's Vietnamese hospitality!
~ We were "models" for a week-end to promote a luxurious cruise on Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. We had a lot of fun despite waking up at 5 am and having every single move photographed, which includes trying to look good eating shrimps hahaha
