I was born in Taiwan, then my parents moved us to Singapore when I was 4 years old, and back to Taiwan in grade 5. I was put in a bilingual school and got the chance to interact with various teachers from England, Canada, Australia, and the US, which gave me the idea of wanting to go abroad for further education. So when high school came along, I decided to go to Vancouver myself. I fell in love with Canada and the culture and have been here for my 7th year now. I'm currently studying business at Western University.

I'm a very open-minded and an accepting person, which I believe we all must be to be on Couchsurfing. I like to think that I have an extremely positive outlook on life which makes me comfortable with anything thrown in my path because everything WILL work out in the end. I believe in giving because I have been so blessed to have received so much for the most parts of my life. Life is an adventure and I'm going to savour every bit of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As an international student, I want to start surfing to meet more people and learn about Canadian culture more in depth. As a frequent traveler, I have encountered some amazing people and heard great stories about their experiences. I think what comes around goes around so if I'm able to help those in need, it's a win-win.

Interests

I LOVE trying new food, to the point that I have made an excel document with over 100 restaurants I want to try. I have so many interests and am always finding new ones. I journal on a daily basis which I find very helpful when reflecting and growing. For the past few years, I've vlogged and created videos when I've gotten the time to (you can check out some of my videos here - https://www.youtube.com/user/SpectacularLavender). Obviously, I'm in love with traveling and exploring all the beautiful places in the world. I'm a big fan of all nature activities, including camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing. Ask me about my 11 day canoeing trip around the Bowron Lake in BC! On a typical day I go to school, hang out with friends, go salsa dancing, stay involved with my Christian fellowship and sorority.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Taught English in 6 different schools in Prague, Czech Republic
-Won an all inclusive trip to Cancun for me and 3 other friends
-Moved over 17 times in my life
-Went on a roadtrip to Alberta with people I didn't know (except one I met briefly haha)
