About Me
CURRENT MISSION
For my family to live fully and kindly... and to have a wonderfully slow and conscious family gap year when I turn 40, regardless of how many kids we have and how old they are! (I have 6 years to plan this)
ABOUT ME
I have a sleepy town heart and a big city mind. Travel has been pivotal in the enrichment of my life and the building of my character. I believe everyone has an epic story to tell (and a few hilarious anecdotes too). I love the company of great open minded friends or sunny strangers, watching films, getting lost in a new town, hoarding flea market treasures, reading and learning about the world, experiencing it, contributing to it and finding the silver lining when it's being a bitch. I am also mama to two little girls under 3 and wife to a wanderlusting chef. As a family, we're committing to reducing our negative impact on the planet by increasing our positive impact through conscious and kinder daily practices and choices wherever we can within reasonable comfort.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is a verb.
It's cooler to be kind.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, like they say, when in Rome, do as the romans do. But most importantly, I get the most out of sharing and exchanging ideas, opinions about the world and stories.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Frankfurt, Cologne, Faro, Paris, San Sebastian, Copenhagen, Austin, Los Angeles, Stavanger - all such wonderful people. I've also met and hosted some of the most beautiful human beings I've ever encountered and they have now become lifelong friends.
Interests
Being a graphic designer, I'm excited by anything visually moving to me be it a photograph, artwork, illustration, an object, an entire space, or a film. More recently I've also become deeply fascinated by social and environmental sustainability and how as a family, we can do our part despite being urban dwellers. Finally, being a new mother intent on not letting my maternal responsibilities hinder my ability to achieve my own career dreams, I'm also fascinated by entrepreneurialism if there's such a word.
Meanwhile, Dean cannot live a day without talking about food and when he isn't talking about food he's talking about music, travel or thinking about having a lie down at the beach or taking the girls anywhere that is surrounded by trees.
Apart from needing to be outdoors on a regular basis, we also share a love for flea markets and second hand shops.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm into soul, 80s and 90s grunge/alternative/hiphop/r&b, folk and mellow or pop electronic. Dean loves The Stone Roses, Paul Weller, Neil Young, The Band, The Doors, lots of northern soul. The girls love anything they can dance to and nursery rhymes.
We both love documentaries, Dean more so into music ones. Love a good foreign or independent film. One of my cheesy personal all time favourite films however is Princess Bride and Dean's is Braveheart. Although, you would have to throw in an incentive to make us watch a war epic (apart from Braveheart obv) or an overly vfx'd american hero film (I personally love the X-Men films however).
Our bookshelf is cluttered with journals, manifestos, misc non fiction, biographies, cook books (a lot), travel books, childrens books and magazines.
