About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to learn new languages, explore new places, experience different cultures and meet great people in doing so! Smiling the whole way through!

ABOUT ME

Friendly, sociable and passionate. Not as crazy as I once was but still loca at times and chilled at others. I love meeting new people, doing spontaneous things, exploring new places. I like the balance of going out, i.e. dancing, a few beers and tapas, listening to live music, but i am also happy to watch a movie at home with a hot chocolate, beachtime with friends and swimming in the sea, lots of walking and stumbling on unexpected places, the outdoors, parks, gardens, treking etc.
I am 28 years old.... I love travelling. I have been all over south america, eastern and western Europe, also south east asia and Sri Lanka. Now I have a job in september to teach English in Sevilla for 10 months. I'm very excited, I love Sevilla!

PHILOSOPHY

A smile and a thankyou go along way. I totally believe in treating people how you'd like to be treated and I believe in Karma. I love the saying travel broadens the mind! It has made me appreciate different cultures and be more openminded. 'I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.' William Ernest Henley from Invictus, quoted by Nelson Mandela.....This quote speaks for itself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had the pleasure of couchsurfing with two wonderful, open-minded and interesting people in Sevilla...my first couchsurfing experiences. It is a great way of meeting people who can show you the real places that tourists don't get to see....love it!

Interests

Listening to live music, movies (Marin Scorcese flicks, i love the cinematography in 'knocking on heavens door', French films as they are often quirky, foreign movies, British comedies, romantic films like 'letters to Juliet', 'bridget jones...' etc. I grew up on star wars, james bond and my fav kids movie is 'The goonies'). I like dancing, but am not very good at step dances like salsa and samba but i want to learn!! I also love meeting new people, travel, art and photography (particularly black and white), sustainable development and sustainable tourism and telling people to be more environmentally friendly and telling myself this too, politics (i don't know everything but always reading about it and learning from people), food, drawing, clothes making (i am learning), reading (fiction - fast-paced or when stories are gradually revealed and i am gripped throughout, and non-fiction - particulaly travel, culture, history and design books). I also enjoy snorkelling, places which are green and with lots of trees, and I am keen to try kitesurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to music...all types. Since being in south america i have started listening to Regatton, salsa, samba, bossa nova. I also like indy/rock/jazz/hiphop and im partial to a bit of cheesy music to go out dancing, and 60s/70s and 80s, e.g. rolling stones, queen, the police, ac dc, pink floyd etc. I have a wide taste lets just say! I have already discussed my taste in films and books in my interests!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have seen is the Salt Flats in Bolivia...A three day journey visiting salt lakes, deserts, volcanoes, green and red lakes, geysers, hot springs etc....There are truly no words to describe the experience!
The most amazing thing I have done for personal gain is abseiling down a waterfall. It was a petrifying experience but envigorating at the same time. The most amazing thing I have participated in is my 6 weeks volunteer work with children in Peru - an enriching and eye-opening experience.
