About Me

CURRENT MISSION

UPDATE: we are prioritizing stays for displaced Ukrainians who need a temporary couch during the appalling aggression by Russian “head-of-state.” Slava Ukraini. Our aim is to entrench culturally, remove the walls we increasingly use to shut out neighbors, and enrich self and world with meaningful interactions.

ABOUT ME

Published author, award-winning screenwriter and web developer who's frequently restless and impassioned by social interaction, intelligent discourse and new experiences. Travel is food for the soul, people are the wine and conversation the digestivo. I can't imagine sitting idle, a blip on the map of the universe. It's a small planet, a smaller life but it's worth something to me to spend my time opening the mind and the home.

PHILOSOPHY

To enrich as a social human, we need to expose ourselves to as many experiences as possible. To be part of culture we must do our part to make it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Contact, Splinterhead, Amelie, Volver, Taking Woodstock, Rushmore, Hunt for Red October (to randomly name a few)...Music - Gotan Project, Orishas, Nas, Outkast, Ben Harper, Rocco Deluca, Dire Straits, Led Zep, Chopin, Pablo Sarasate, Bizet, Celia Bartoli, Rufus Wainwright, Edith Piaf (and on and on and on)....Books - Collapse, Guns, Germs & Steel, Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Atlas Shrugged, Fountainhead, We the Living, Snowcrash, Baroque Cycle, Marukami, Norman Mailer, Isabelle Allende (that's all I got off the top of my head).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a fox pull a drowning bird out of a river, then leave it alone to dry on the bank. I had two baby raccoons crawling all over my leg without a care in the world. That was a beautiful thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn how to pass freely from one culture and relationship to another without over-thinking or worrying about what somebody else might think. I think that's a skill, an art, a piece of flippin' magic. As far as what I can teach...I'm a great communicator and I love when people reach understanding where once it seemed unattainable. I am pretty good at expressing myself, and opening up to anyone who seems trustworthy. And then again, even the untrustworthy can be opened up to so long as you don't fear what you've got inside.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My house mates work in restaurants. We generally have plenty of salads/pizza, etc. available if you give me a head's up. I live a few miles from the beach with spectacular sunsets and long walks, as well as one of the most stunning sand dune systems in the US. The geographical layout here in one of the most remarkable I've had the pleasure to experience.
