Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
--- Not available to host from Nov-Dec 2018 --- Feel free to send medium/long term requests for 2019; dates and details can be adjusted closer to arrival date. ---
I'm a people person and I love meeting people from around the world. I started by hosting when some friends in DC (probably around 2004/5) couldn't or out of town friends recommending me to their friends as a point of contact. For me the next best thing to being able to travel the world myself is being able to meet people from there and "pick your brain" a little bit to broaden my horizons and understanding of different cultures.
When I'm available I'm happy to offer to host and meet new people. Let's meet for coffee, a beer/wine and show you around the town :) Tell me what you are looking for and I can give you some recommendations. PLEASE NOTE I do not check CS frequently so usually don't see last-minute requests in time (feel free to send if you don't mind a long-shot); serious, seasoned, age-peer CSrs preferred.
I grew up in San Miguel and love it passionately and enjoy sharing it with others, especially the "off the path" places most tourists don't see... the nature, the real, the local-local :-)
Fell in love with SMA and want to stay more than a couple nights? Happy to provide recommendations for local short-term rentals or /Work-away/HelpEx-type exchanges.

Algo increíble que he hecho
I try to do amazing things all the time!
... hmmm... perhaps you would find it amazing I received my scuba diving certification in frigid and beautiful Lake Superior!
... I have also served as translator to English (from French) for a trilingual edition (English, Spanish, and native Otomí language) of The Little Prince published by the Museo Iconográfico del Quijote in Guanajuato State.
I'm a member of my local Rotary International chapter since 2010!
Enseña, aprende, comparte
Do you need some intercultural guidance to help you avoid culture shock or better navigate the waters here? I'm passionate about cultural dimensions, how historical events shape current cultural values, and the things you don't know you should know... this is what I do and love so any information that can be useful to you I'm happy to share (I can also send you some "about the town and things to do" handouts for San Miguel de Allende, Querétaro, and a few other cities)....
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
If you are so kind to host me I'm happy to share any of this knowledge or would be happy to lend a hand around the house, with research for a project or whatever makes sense. I'm flexible and fun but do love to give back as I'm appreciative utilities and toiletries adding up if you are a habitual host!
