Rising Appalachia

:::In the wake of a new world order filled with compassionate mystics, hard hitting allen-wrenches, vagabond poets, political magicians, echoes of songs in every language, tone and creation, and views of an ancient empire in its demise under the voice of its own people…

We evoke you.

We evoke you to carry the tune of the warrior with us in all its strength and numbers… in its outreach from neighborhood to global span...because:::

Rising Appalachia takes to the road again.

We are nothing short of obsessed with this new turn that humanity is perched on and will return to the American roads of sound and song after months of international studies, work and refugee volunteering abroad. We have been pooling our skills and thoughts and ideas and compiling them with many other steadfast global warriors in the fertile hills of India and are ready to hit the road again with many new manifestations of sound.

So, now we return to our motherland to stoke the fires of resistance and build the message of community through music and songs and poetics as we know best: through the creative mirror of music as a messenger.

BUT we need everyone’s help to craft this tour space righteously…

There are many ways that you can lend your spirit, energy and voice…

Below we have listed ways that you can get involved as well as the upcoming tour. If you feel drawn to any of these ideas and want to jump on board please contact us and we will build forward with everyone's thoughts and ideas...

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP......

please read further:::

- CONNECT US WITH LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS:::

We are looking for point people in each city/town to help us research and contact local non-profit organizations to bring them to each show. We want to create a liaison between the local community projects and the issues facing the world at large, and we will also provide tabling space for each organization as well as a small block of time to introduce community issues to the audience.

This can be organizations working with women’s rights, alternative justice initiatives, undoing racism, housing rights, human rights, alternative economies, anit-war movements, education projects, ect

- BRING IN OPENING ARTISTS:::

There are many incredible talents in your area that we may not know about. We are making the open call for like minded artists, performers, jugglers, fire swallowers, storytellers, tightrope walkers, spoken word artists, and creative collectives to help us build a show night in style. If you know of an opening act that might be a powerful match please put us in touch and we will rally the forces or artistic rebellion in style…

-GET US INTO YOUR LOCAL SCHOOLS, PRISONS, COMMUNITY CENTERS, ICECREAM PARLORS, BARBER SHOPS, LIVING ROOMS…etc

Many times in our touring we have a day in between shows or an afternoon before our load in time where are looking to schedule a community performance or workshop. We can bring our projects into local gyms or churches, boys and girls clubs, prisons, youth detention centers or living room affairs…Although our schedule is a little tight it is these opportunities that really create the contact with a local community and we want to go out of our way to make this happen. If you have any thoughts or connections that might enable this exchange please be in touch and we can build on this further or pass us any additional information.

-STREET TEAM:::

Although we don’t have an official street team set up we depend almost soley on guerrilla marketing and word of mouth advertising. If you have amazing stenciling ability, graffiti expertise or a flock of eager admirers that might follow your lead please spread the word on the shows in your area. Mass email the dates in your town. Write a personal note about the show... Also we can send out posters in e-form or hard copy for flyering if you give us enough notice. It is the small efforts by individuals that can really carve out the intimate musical spaces that we are seeking. This is far more valuable than reviews in newspapers, posters, or even radio slots (although if you are a Dj or the second cousin of a djs sister we LOVE live radio shows!!!!). So, if you like what is building PLEASE spread the word!

-COUCH SURFING:::

SO, we are 5 people…sometimes a beautiful wolf dog, an array of musical instruments, a handful of magic tricks and several good cooks. We love staying in our little bus when we have to, but we ALSO love the hospitality of amazing organizers, house makers, eco builders, tipi-dwellers, bicycle makers, raw food alchemists, warehouse centers, art squats, horse trainers, chocolate makers, massage therapists, and poetic novelists…. WE WANT TO LEARN ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE!…so if you have space or energy or crafts to share and you want to take us under your wing for a day or two to show us something new…we’d love to be hosted!
