About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Find myself while building new friendships, strengthening old ones and traveling the world
ABOUT ME
I was born in Minnesota, but my family moved to Alaska when I was 3. We spent 5 years in Barrow, AK while I was in elementary/middle school but moved back to the Anchorage area so I could pursue athletics more competitively. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to do a lot of traveling with my family, all over the world. Following high school, I played a year of hockey in Ohio before moving home and enlisting in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman. From 09-13 I was stationed in Camp LeJeune, NC during which I was deployed twice to Marjah, Afghanistan. When my contract ended in early January 2013, it was a quick turn around as I stuffed everything I owned into my car and headed northeast to attend Penn State (classes started the 7th). Upon arrival, I was offered a walk-on tryout for the hockey team and a job working as a Veteran Outreach Counselor for the VA office on campus. Currently, I'm a sophomore studying Rehabilitation & Human Services with hopes of continuing my work with Veterans. While four years and two combat deployments may have been a little unpleasant, I've decided to get back to my roots by traveling/exploring as much/often as possible!

I watch a lot of documentaries, and usually listen to some variation of folk-ish music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Made it home, twice, from what was considered at the time the deadliest place on Earth.
Teach, Learn, Share
Between growing up throughout Alaska, playing competitive sports and serving in the Marine Corps I've acquired a skill set, some pretty awesome stories, and an appreciation for life that cannot be purchased, as many CS'ers have. If given the opportunity, I'd love to learn how people have persevered through challenging times, each in their own, unique way.
