ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty easy-going, gentle dude.

PHILOSOPHY

Currently it is a kind of rational hedonism. This slim period of about three years, I have all the freedom of an adult life, yet almost none of the responsibilities. Therefore, I am currently engaged in the pursuit of happiness. On the longer term, I still have the slightly naive hope to do something about the environmental mess we are creating for ourselves.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My experience is non-existent, really. But I really like the concept, and I plan to participate a lot in the future. But at the moment I'm first trying to find out more about CS, so my focus is currently on surfing rather than hosting. But hey, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make, so hosting is something I'm definitely open to.

I still have to find a way to verify myself, since I don't have a credit card (a rather useless thing in Holland).

Interests

Music (I don't play any instrument, but currently I am busy DJing and booking bands), politics, science, travelling, sports (though I currently don't do nearly enough of it :( ), art & culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently I'm checking out all these movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood, which I really like.

Regarding music it's probably easiest to list some artists I like:
The Beatles, Radiohead, Blur, Guided By Voices, The Pixies, LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk, Arcade Fire, The National, Dirty Projectors, Spiritualized, Pulp, The Flaming Lips, Nick Drake, David Bowie, Sigur Ros, Galaxie 500. Yeah, I guess pretty much every indie band ever. Lately I've been listening to a lot of IDM and other electronic music, and a friend of mine is trying (and succeeding) to get me into Beethoven.

Books: On The Road, Foucault's Pendulum, The Prince, der Steppenwolf and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy are some books I enjoy immensely.
