About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore and learn about the world and myself.

ABOUT ME

I moved to NYC about a year ago and after living here for a bit I'm ready to go explore the world again.

PHILOSOPHY

Working on that, can you help?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

rarely, mostly as a couchsurfer although now that I live in a "destination city" I'd like to open up my house to travelers as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've Couchsurfed once in Poland and had a great experience. Although I regularly let friends and friends of friends stay on a spare futon we rarely coordinate it through the website.

Interests

I love being part of an energy filled crowd, especially when there is a collaborative and innovative spark in the air. Most recently I've found crowds like this within the tech startup scene in NYC. I've been able to both enjoy the atmosphere and educate myself about what it takes to start and grow a business, another interest of mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

music - bob dylan, classic rock, radiohead and a decent amount of rap/hip-hip.
movies - just about anything depending on my mood.
books - mostly non-fiction, often focused on politics, economics, entrepreneurship.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Zion national park in Utah, don't know what it was but the red rocks touched my heart.
-Experiencing living in another country and the joy yet frustration that comes with trying to understand a foreign culture.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to know a little bit about everything. Recent odd things I've learned: all geisha were men at one time, and there is something called whole hive mead that involves fermenting an entire bee hive (bees and everything else included) before straining and drinking the delicious alcohol/honey combination. Apparently the poison in the bee stingers gives it a little extra kick.

I learned another neat trick recently too. First get close to a mirror and look at yourself. Focus on your right eye, then your left eye, going back and forth quickly. You won't see your eyes moving but if someone else is observing this he/she will!

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Estonia, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
