About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to learn as much from the world as I possibly can - I seriously believe in "peace through understanding!"

ABOUT ME

I'm a happy person, curious and interested, always looking to make new friends and learn something new.

March 2019 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and I've spent the past months on maternity leave, trying to show her that the world can be a safe, joyful and wonderful place to grow up. She amazes me and her father Esben every time she masters some new tiny aspect of her new body and life. I'll be starting on my research project at the university this February and as much as I love my daughter, I immensely look forward to go use my brain on adulting.

PHILOSOPHY

Smiling at the world most often means the world smiling back at you. A smile is never a lost effort.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly surfing ten years ago. I've hosted a few times as well but due to small living quarters in our time as students, we never hosted as much as we intended. I hope for us to be more open for surfers in the future, we both love making new acquaintances and helping out where we can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed four times, three of them in the summer of 2010 in Canada and the States, one in 2012 in my own country, and I've had the most amazing experiences when it comes to openminded and generous people. I am thankful to have gotten to know couchsurfing as an alternative to boring hotels :) I've hosted some last-minute surfers at our old home but only for very short stays, as our apartment was teeny tiny at the time.

Interests

I am a family person, spending a lot of time with my boyfriend Esben and, of course, our baby girl, but also our parents and grand-parents. We also prioritize spending time with our friends together and separately. We spend too much money on food and love watching a good movie or taking day trips to different places and sights. I for my part love reading (I'm in a book club), hate cooking (my results are never nearly as good as my efforts), I'm a talker and my favorite super power would be speaking all languages of the world fluently. I'm not quite there yet, though, but I love learning (about anything, really). Esben is more of a tech geek, but a very outgoing and friendly type, walking up to strangers in a park to join their game of table tennis as an example (we were tourists walking through Paris, he had a blast playing with the youngsters). We've been a couple for ten years this summer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy silence and the sounds of life around me. The idea of always having my ears plugged and filled with music doesn't speak to me. I do love music, almost any style, but a book or simply silence is much more important to me. And conversation. Esben makes sure to keep my life filled with all kinds of music anytime he can, and I do quite enjoy it, though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped an 18-year-old almost blind refugee boy fight during half a year and, gradually, learning not only my language but also to read, to calculate and to communicate his feelings. His will to develop was more amazing than anything I ever saw around me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Anything you want to know about my country, the culture, the history, I will do my best to tell you

What I Can Share with Hosts

Thoughts, stories and experiences, good times and laughter. Although I don't much enjoy cooking at home, I'd love to cook and share some Danish food with you and tell you about our customs and culture. And, of course, to welcome you back in Denmark if you should ever want to visit.
