À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

To make the most of each day and help open the eyes of those I meet along the way. Oh, and save the world somewhere in there!

ABOUT ME

I try to be aware of everything around me and I strive to make the most of every moment and learn from everything and be happy. Every second counts and life flies by! I am very curious and I love laughing! My mind is open and I want to fill it with other languages, memories, knowledge, ideas, people, views... everything! I believe you should try everything at least once and that life is what you make it, so stay positive! I am a huge dreamer! If you don't dream it, if you don't draw the plans and colour them in, you will never do anything outside of your normal and comfortable routine - which may work for some, but I need more.

PHILOSOPHY

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did so. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Mark Twain

such a wise man. I am trying to make "yes" my go to word! And never let an opportunity pass you by. Constantly on the move and being surprise and educated and enlightened!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've meet couch surfers on my travels and loved them all!
I have yet to host or be hosted. My plans change so quickly that I usually can't give enough notice… I try!!! And look forward to the first of many :)

Centres d'intérêt

Doing stuff outdoors and going on adventures. I love sports and doing things outside like snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, and camping, and I want to learn rock climbing, diving, kitesurfing, longboarding, and surfing and anything else! I love learning new things and having my horizons broadened. I have time to travel between contracts in ships, so I am trying to get around as much as possible and not be tied down. I work on tallships (big old sailing ships) and am a huge fan of sailing and being at sea. I like photography and play around with my camera a lot. Languages are amazing and I want to learn as many as I can! (I hate going somewhere without knowing the language and expecting people to know mine...)

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Happy music, meditating music, classic rock anthems, classical, acoustic guitar sounds, acapella covers... So much! Need music in my life!!!
Recently on my ipod:
The Boom Booms - Belly Down
Carla Bruni - Quelqu'un m'a dit
Ray Lamontagne - Trouble
Hunter Hayes - I Want Crazy
Rodriguez - I Wonder
Phillip Phillips - Gone, Gone, Gone
McFly - Love is Easy
Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks
Nizlopi - JCB Song
Trevor Hall (love him! so amazing!!!)
Nahko and Medicine for the People
....

Love reading, but don't really have time for it in this phase of my life, except for the long flights from one continent to the next. Then I tend to read Murakami or sailing books, and am now working on "The Power of One"

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I spent one of my spring breaks volunteering in Haiti after the earthquake. I couldn't find an organization to host me because it was too dangerous for anyone but doctors and emergency care workers, so I went anyway. It changed my life!
A few years ago I went to the Gambia for a few weeks in the winter and had a huge wake-up call about how I live and how lucky I am. It also made me rethink my concerns about "hunger in Africa" and similar crises of the world. I'll explain later... I have been dying to go back to the Gambia and relive it after all the changes it sparked in me.
I've been working on tallships traveling around the world and have seen beautiful places like Guernsey and Fowey (England), La Corunha and Cadiz (Spain), Lisbon and Porto (Portugal), St. Malo (France), and Amsterdam (the Netherlands), and the Antarctica, South Georgia, Tristan da Cunha, and Cape Town, in the southern summer.
And the journey continues and I plan to have many adventures along the way!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I can whistle really loud and I can teach the basics of Portuguese and German. I also make great popcorn in a pot (have yet to master the camp fire popcorn…)!
I am certified in Reiki healing and love sharing the energy with those I meet! Would gladly exchange a reiki session for a roof over my head :)
I want to learn it all! Anything you can teach me, I will take it! Languages! Food! Instruments! A new sport! A foreign tongue twister! Anything!!!!
