About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get there...without a real plan or any complaints

ABOUT ME

I am focused in languages and Middle Eastern Philosophy.
If it was all possible and I could do anything forever I would join the Foreign Service - help people around the world, visit as many places as I could - and retire each night to a swimming pool with a waterproof library - I would clearly float and read simultaneously.
I love talking to people and would do that all day every day.
That being said, there is something unmistakeably beautiful about total silence, especially when you actually can connect with what was there before you in that moment.
I take more classes than should be allowed of a student. - because I realize if I wasn't on scholarship someone else would be, so I better make damn sure I deserve it the most.
I am scared of nothing except for my father's pain.

PHILOSOPHY

A scholar's ink lasts longer than a martyrs blood.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am willing to host anyone- and already host prospective students so I am over the whole awkward new person entering my space - my home is your home... especially if it means I have additional places to rest my head when I get bored and run away!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While in Tunisia at the end of a scholarship, I found out my dad was potentially losing his home back in America through my parents divorce. A woman said come live with me till things get better there, and I'll take care of everything. I have never learned so much about how incredibly human beings can be as I did spending a month and half with here wonderful family, not to mention the language aspect. It was incredible to see rule of another household born of another culture. Something I will always carry with me was her mother watching National Geographic Abu Dhabi with me and pointing out the monkeys - "You see, if they really still exist then Darwin was clearly wrong..."

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - any but country... sorry! I know I know, all my friends hate this... theres just something about it. If it helps I'm also really sick of music pop related - so I guess I really just don't like songs that talk about beer.

Movies - Without a Paddle - tastelessly wonderful.

Books - This year I vowed to read 100 books that I know I should have before I reached age 20, I am perfect on target with that. Keeping that in mind:
Shah of Shahs By Ryszard Kapuscinski and
Lord of the Flies By William Golding in the interest of your life being more valuable than my book list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am 19 years old - and this question is the hardest because I don't know what to choose. I am fortunate beyond belief.

but

If I had a dollar for every time a beautiful boy picked me up on his motorcycle from the Mediterranean Sea to drive me to a feast, I would have a dollar.

I also road in a crazy man's car through a section of the Sahara desert - pretty unbelievable...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can and will WILLINGLY teach anyone the Arabic alphabet- or work with them at any level up to my own, advanced low level. I love Arabic, its absolutely incredible and I currently teach it. I would also help you start in Farsi or Turkish if you're brand brand new to those languages.

I would LOVE to learn anything about any languages. Especially the niceties - how to correctly respond when someone sneezes- culture statements that can't be learned via textbooks.

Countries I’ve Visited

Egypt, Guatemala, Mexico, Tunisia, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
