About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Leave the world a little bit better than I found it.

ABOUT ME

I've been all over the world, avoiding the 9-5 work schedule in an office. Most recently I worked as a Branch Director for an Americorps Disaster Relief Team site in Fort Myers, Florida - doing relief work after Hurricane Irma. Before that I was doing the same work in Corpus Christi, Texas after Hurricane Harvey. I lived the year before that in Hawaii working at a SCUBA shop and with children with Autism, side gig as a waitress on the weekends. Prior to that I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco, working on Youth Development. I taught swimming lessons and English to people of all ages and learned both Darija and Tashelheit (the local languages).

Im currently in Brazil for a year on a Fulbright scholarship to teach English.

I don't plan travel - I get on a plane and say "Yes" to everything not dangerous or illegal . That means I end up on here the night before my flight going, "Uh-oh, where am I going to sleep." I expect to be as accommodating to others who are just in it for the ride as people have been to me. I just have no home base right now so I can't offer a couch - but by March of 2018 I'll be accepting people looking to visit Brazil.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to use this often, then I graduated college and stopped having time to travel as frivolously, about the same time as my e-mail associated with it was hacked, so I am just starting up again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted and been a guest, I look forward to doing more of each.

My best experiences so far have been in San Diego.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Source Code and Inception
Books: ALL, every single one I pick up offers me something. I guess favorites are Fahrenheit 451, Catch 22, The Truth Machine, 1984 and Lord of the Flies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked Mount Sinai just before sunrise.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to swim or to perfect your stroke. I can teach you to love books. English and Arabic are definitely up for offer. I can also maybe teach you how to travel really cheaply, but if you are on here you already know my biggest trick.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Language skills. If you're interested in learning any languages I know (I've studied 14) or want help finding a or effective way to study anything you're curious about.
