Overview
About Me
Well hello there! If you're reading this, I hope it's because we're already friends or because we soon will be. I recently returned home to Florida after teaching English in central Thailand and will soon head to Canada to work as an outdoor recreation instructor at a sleep-away summer camp. If you find yourself in the Tampa or Toronto area in the near future, don't hesitate to send me a message so we can meet up. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To put it simply: because I love making friends. To put it loftily: because I think that if life can be said to have meaning, it is in the connections shared between humans. One of my favorite parts of heading off for a new trip is the anticipation of all the wonderful new people I'm going to get to experience, however fleetingly. I love hosting couchsurfers and hearing all about the struggles and joys that have led them to wherever they currently are, and I love seeing my city through fresh eyes. I am interested in being hosted so I can see the parts of cities that can't be found on a blog or in a Lonely Planet book, and so I can gain perspective from people who know more about the places I'm visiting than I could ever hope to learn in a mere weekend. Let's be friends!
Interests
With good company, I'm happy doing just about anything. I enjoy active things like bike rides, swimming, concerts, and going dancing, but I'll also never turn down something more relaxed like watching a movie, laying out in the sun, reading in a cute coffee shop, or just sitting around talking.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm big into pop culture- talk to me about your favorites in any of these categories!
Music: anything with a trumpet (I used to live in New Orleans and those brass bands got into my BLOOD), Chance the Rapper, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, Tokyo Police Club, Beyoncé, Whitney, Pavement, Oberhofer, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Vaccines, Velvet Underground, The Beatles (duh), The Rolling Stones (duh x2), anything from a musical, anything that can be belted at the top of one's lungs in a karaoke bar.
Movies: Fight Club, Submarine, Black Swan, Sing Street, La La Land, Frances Ha, Obvious Child, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Almost Famous, The Social Network, Midnight in Paris, Slumdog Millionaire, Pulp Fiction, Whiplash, Nightcrawler, Dazed and Confused, the list truly goes on and on. Also, I saw Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban 13 times the summer it came out, but that's another story.
Books: Catcher in the Rye, The Goldfinch, Cat's Cradle, anything by Jon Ronson (my favorite so far is The Psychopath Test), The Secret History, Skippy Dies, anything David Sedaris, Everything is Illuminated. Basically, if it's realistic fiction with a side of coming-of-age, I'm sold.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most thrilling days of my life was spent cliff jumping in Wales! It was freezing and terrifying and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am always happy to share laughs and drinks. If you give me enough of the latter, I can teach you the choreography to my infamous "Drunk in Love" dance (be warned: it's heavy on floor work).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories, ideas, jokes, my world-renowned cooking (totally kidding- I once started a small kitchen fire trying to make tacos....). But what I'd most like to share with my host is an experience. :) Let's do something you love!
