Music, Movies, and Books
Currently in the middle of re-reading the Harry Potter saga and looking for a pub quiz to test my trivia while it's all still fresh! Love biographies, true accounts and old school murder mysteries by Agatha Christie.
As for movies, a major influence in my decision to move to New Zealand was for Lord of the Rings. Just waiting for Peter Jackson to pick me out of a crowd to work in Hobbiton. Similarly anything my Taika Waitiki (Hunt for the wilder people, what we do in the shadows) or Wes Anderson is ideal watching on a hangover day! I will watch any musical or Disney movie at any time.
I love a good music festival but have never been to one outside of Ireland so am looking for good recommendations. Any folkie, happy, funky music that makes you smile and dance with flail your arms is my cup of tea. Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metronomy, The National, Chic, George Ezra.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed 2 active volcanos in 3 days while travelling Java, Indonesia. The second volcano (Mt. Ijen) was the most difficult/amazing treks I've ever done. We started our climb at 12.30am and ended it at 8.00am. We climbed 1km into the crater in the pitch dark with nothing but a head torch. We saw a natural phenomenon - blue fire caused by burning sulphur! We continued our trek to watch the sunrise over the volcano. It was spectacular I would highly recommend it!
Teach, Learn, Share
When I'm not travelling the world and carrying my life around on my back I work as a music teacher. I will happily play and teach piano, guitar, flute and ukulele to anyone who is willing to join in :) I also love karaoke and will sing (badly) when I have few beers in my belly :)
I worked as an English Teacher in Thailand for a Summer so can offer a linguistic hand to anyone in need?
I also love to cook and eat and love learning how to make new dishes.
I love arts and crafts, particularly knitting and sewing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Music, chats, recipes, stories, travel advice.
I can also make a damn good cup of tea.
