ABOUT ME

Hello everyone! As yee can see my name's Leanne and I'm originally from Ireland!

I was bitten by the travel bug about this time last year and jumped at the opportunity to move to Canada for a year! So I am currently on a working-holiday VISA until mid summer of 2013, by which time I have to return home to finish my studies.

I'm at that stage where I actually have no idea what I want to do, but I am extremely ambitious. I know that as soon as I find something I am passionate about and really enjoy, I will make it into a career.

But for now, I am a 19 year old Irish girl travelling around Canada trying to see and experience as much as possible before I do have to go back to the dreaded studies!

I love to travel, (obviously!) but I'm also a massive sports enthusiast. I used to play basketball and soccer, I have to say soccer because football to me is Gaelic football, which, I've been informed since I've been to Canada, not many people actually know about! I've played football (Gaelic) since I was about 5 and just gave it up last summer before I came to Canada! Since being here though, I have been forced to watch NHL, NFL and the NBA! Not gonna lie, I absolutely LOVED the Superbowl and I made it to my first NBA game in Toronto in February, Raptors vs. the Knicks, EPIC!

I'm also really into music, I play the tin whistle and used to play piano, probably a bit rusty now! But more than anything, I love to sing! So as long as you don't mind the odd out-burst of song every now and again, we should be fine! Although feel free to tell me to shut up too, I promise I won't be offended!

There's still many things I want to do and achieve before my time here is up, everyday I add something to the bucket-list, but I also try everyday to tick one thing off! So if you could help me in anyway in fulfilling my bucket list I promise I will be forever grateful!

I may even give you a special mention when it comes to telling my story of amazing things I've seen and done in my life! :)

PHILOSOPHY

I could put in a really cliche answer here like "You only live once", "Life's too short", or "Carpe Diem" but I guess they're cliche for a reason so they must have some meaning behind them!

I believe in making things happen, not waiting around for something to amaze you.

But lately something that's become more apparent and important to me in my life is to surround yourself with the people who have a lasting impact on you, influence you in the direction you want your life to go, are trusting and loyal friends and who make you laugh even when you really don't feel like laughing!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm actually only in Canada for a few more months :( I've been here since last November, worked as a Front Desk representative at Blue Mountain Ski Resort and was provided with staff accommodation for 4 months.
However, I have yet to experience a true back-packer style travelling romance of getting up in the morning with comfortable walking shoes, a bag on your back and a map to just get lost somewhere new! With a comfortable couch to come back to when the day's adventure has worn you out of course!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to this couch-surfing business! But it sounds ideal for what I hope to do and I would be more than happy to host in Ireland once my travelling is done for those who are interested in visiting the Emerald Isle one day!

Interests

I am interested in so many things and open to so many more! Everything from sports, languages, music, culture, people, places, theatre, films, public speaking, health and fitness, anything new or old that I haven't heard of or experienced before usually gets my attention :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really open to any type of music, from classical to pop, country to old Irish, rap to RnB so I'll literally listen to anything depending on what mood I'm in, or want to be in!

Same goes for movies, apart from horrors, I'm such a wimp for them! If we're ever having a movie night expect a lot of squirming, screaming and generel terror!

I love to read but I haven't in a long time because I've been travelling.. but it is something I enjoy! Don't know if you'll know but the last books I've been reading have been by Sylvia Day, they're worth looking up, trust me! :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To be honest, what I'm doing now, travelling and seeing the world, is where I am hoping my amazing stories will all come from. I've done many amazing things I am proud of in my life-time, stories I love to share with others, but I am only 19. Stories that I find amazing are ones I usually hear of others that inspire me to do more. Maybe my stories would be amazing to someone else.. (if I couch-share with you, you'll find out!) but for me, I think I'll always feel I need to do and see even more amazing things in my life no matter how many I have experienced already!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I would be more than happy to teach someone my beautiful Irish language.. not promising that you'll be fluent but I will try my best! Not promising that it'll be very useful to you either... But at least you can add it to your couch-surfing profile!!

Learn - Everything and anything that's on offer!

Share - I'm a storyteller, I love to share stories, to talk and to listen! Anyone that has the patience to stay up at night with me for a few hours, I can promise endless hours of entertainment laughing at my expense! :)
