About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoy life, family, and friends
ABOUT ME
After college, I founded a non-profit bicycle shop (www.quadbikes.org) and learned to be a bike mechanic and run a small business. Then I worked in genomics at the Broad Institute, writing code to help us better understand viruses like Dengue and HIV. Now I'm a software engineer at kiva.org which connects people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty.
PHILOSOPHY
I think the most important things are to be happy, to live simply, and to be positive and friendly to others. I believe strongly in minimizing one's "ecological footprint", not using more than you need, and more generally, being efficient and minimizing waste.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
This one summer I was taking a computer / music course at Stanford, and I was signed up for the first week to stay in a dorm room. I was hoping not to need to pay for another week of that, and I didn't know anyone so I walked up to (who would soon become my friend) Katie and introduced myself. I was psyched to meet someone who knew her way around Stanford, and was able to crash on her futon instead of paying for housing. She introduced me to her friends and spent some time with me, and I really enjoyed my time better as a result.
