About Me

I'm a newly created German citizen who has decided to live in Freiburg, learn German, work in renewable energy while covering Europe's transition to a cleaner energy economy. I love to learn, listen to music, hike, have great conversations, meet new people, make new friends, travel and explore, read, make photos, enjoy art, cook, lose at chess and get to know Germany!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing because I want to meet people, practice German and not get into a foreigner/tourist bubble. Throughout Germany we met a bunch of great, friendly people who have become friends. And creating community is super important to me! Besides, its fun cooking for people!

Interests

I love to learn, listen to music, hike, have great conversations, meet new people, make new friends, travel and explore, read, make photos, enjoy art, cook, lose at chess and get to know Germany! I'm quite political (Green party and left!) and am looking forward to getting involved in various activist causes. I also want to hike more in the Black Forrest!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I grew up in New Jersey, so I'm a fan of the Boss (Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band). But I love Pink Floyd, the Stones, some independent music from Colorado, bluegrass, blues and old, old country. I have about 15,000 songs with me on my I-pod that I'm more than happy to share. Movies: anything by the Coen Brothers, Stanley Kubrick, Jim Jarmusch and Woody Allen. Well, not everything by Woody....

Books: I'm reading Umberto Eco right now, just finished a few books about the fall of Yugoslavia but I think Steppenwolf by Hesse is next. One day I'll be able to read it in German!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In May I sold or gave away almost everything I owned so I could start a new life in Germany and Europe. Coming here to live is a dream come true!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love history, politics and conversation. All are things to share. I'd love to trade conversation in English for help with my German :) Or photographer lessons...or...well, what-dya got????

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, English conversations, photo lessons...hope?
