A professional yachtsman with 2 RTW races under my belt, 10 Transats , 1 Sydney-Hobart, 13 Fastnets, 1 Middlesea race and a Cape to Rio. Still want to do RORC 600 and China sea race.

I am married and have a teenage son who works a fair amount. We also have a dog, Sammy who is a LabLurcher. Very friendly, but obedient as he is a trained working dog. If you do drugs, he won't be as friendly. We also have a small cat Spex who treats us like a hotel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Want to be able to offer travellers a good, friendly clean place to stay in. I have been welcomed in many homes globally before the internet concept arrived. They paid it forward, i wish to do the same.

Interests

As an ex professional yachtsman, I have been fortunate to have travelled extensively and made many friends globally. Now I have a family I travel less, but I still love meeting new people.

I sometimes pass on my knowledge and skills to those who wish to learn sailing and racing. So i often travel to events in the UK, Med and Caribbean. Although I still enjoy sailing, the challenge and adrenaline buzz is reduced so i now get my kicks on my motorbike and go off on tours with friends.

I am fortunate enough to have an eclectic mix of friends from educated eccentric tweed wearing gentlemen to leather clad back patch bikers, with, doctors, directors, lawyers, professors, engineers, shelf stackers, van drivers and everything in between.

Music, Movies, and Books

My choice of music changes depending on my mood. Everything from classical to rock, dubstep to drum n base, uplifting house to cafe del mar to world music from Africa to Holland.

Movies, like action, drama and comedy, romcom if i have to. But i wont do horror.

Books, anything by Conn Iggulden. Love his series about Ghengis Khan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To most people it would be that i have raced around the globe in a yacht race. But to me, it was having my son. He is my greatest achievement.
