I am a husband, father, teacher and coach. I am married to a wonderful woman and we have four children. My wife is a physician assistant. We live in a beautiful rural area in a large house with an acreage. I am competitive and enjoy games of all kinds. I love to play with my kids and watch them play sports or participate in music and drama events. I love life and am able to enjoy it without adding drugs or alcohol.

We would like to meet people from around the country and around the world to expose our children to people with varied background, and we love making new friends. . The more people we can introduce our children to who come from different walks of life, who speak different languages, who come from different cultures the better we are preparing them to embrace the world and think globally.
There are a lot of outdoor activities to do in our area, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, hunting, and camping to name a few. We would like to travel ourselves and our kids are getting to the ages where that is becoming more convenient.
I believe couchsurfing will be an enjoyable and educational experience both as a host and as a traveller.

Intereses

My family loves sports, the outdoors, and entertaining friends. I love to read and enjoy gardening. I like taking the kids to the pool, the river or the lake.

We love to travel but we don't get to do that as much as we like. We have been to Mexico, Florida several times, California twice, DC twice, a Caribbean cruise and nearby lakes on numerous occasions.

We love hosting friends and having slip and slide parties and campfires.

My wife loves Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharpe, and we recently attended a Gentlemen of the Road Music festival.

My favorite movies: Shawshank Redemption, Cinderella Man, Braveheart, Invictus, and Seabiscut

My wife loves comedies like Old School and Step Brothers.

My favorite Book series ids The Game of Thrones series by George R. R. Martin. I also enjoy John Grisham and autobiographies.

My wife and oldest two children play the piano. Our whole family loves music even if I can't sing at all!

Earlier this summer I took my oldest son on a two week trip in which we drove to the east coast. We stopped in Canton Ohio at the NFL HOF, Niagara Falls, Queeche Vermont, New York City, and Washington D. C. We were gone 13 days and drove 3,000 miles.

When I was younger I went skydiving and bungee jumping.

We can share of home and show our guests how rural Americans live. We can learn about wherever our guests come from as well as some of the customs they have that we might not be aware of. I hope we can teach people who visit that rural midwest America is beautiful and the people are friendly and hospitable.

We have a large house with a comfortable guest room with your own bathroom. We try to eat dinner together as a family and would enjoy sharing meals with travelers. We have knowledge of the local activities such as good places to bike and hike and where to fish and kayak. The Mississippi River is only about 20 minutes away from our home and the driftless area of NE Iowa is gorgeous especially in the summer and fall. When the leaves change color along the river the views are beautiful. There is not a lot of nightlife in small town Iowa, but if you are looking for a relaxing get away with plenty of outdoor activities and scenery then this would deb an ideal place to visit.
