ABOUT ME

I've always been relatively shy and cautious, but I'm also stubborn with a passionate adventurous streak which has been steadily gaining momentum and dissolving a lot of my old inhibitions. I'm an Alaskan girl, born and raised, and no matter where I go, Alaska will always be home. I love life, and am incredibly grateful for it. I believe in being honest and genuine with people, and appreciating each moment.

PHILOSOPHY

I am an incurable optimist, and although there are plenty of things to be angry or feel hopeless about, I prefer to embrace the wonder of this world rather than dwell too much on the injustices. If I can be useful in creating change, by all means, I will do whatever I can to help, but I believe that the most important way to have a positive impact in the world is to be mindful of all your mundane interactions. Show kindness to the people around you, smile, say thank you. Manifest beauty in your daily life. Take good care of yourself. Nothing is separate. The small things add up. I am not interested in making money or accomplishing something that will be recognized. I just want to enjoy how I'm spending my time, feel good about what I'm doing, and contribute however I can.

I participate as a host and as a guest.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted and surfed several times, and all have been overwhelmingly positive experiences. I also participated in the Couch Burner's camp at Burning Man 2010, which was fantastic, and I plan to make it an annual trek.

I'm interested in so many things. But a few of my favorites are art, music, dance, hiking, kayaking, gardening, alternative medicine, nutrition, traveling, cooking/baking, and writing.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

It's a tie. Being charged by a grizzly was pretty intense, but I also once saw a spectacular display of northern lights happening at the same time as a meteor shower. I'll never forget that.

教，学，和分享

I can teach knitting and bread-baking! And I know a little bit about local plants and their food/medicinal uses. There are probably other things. I'm happy to share my knowldege and resources with anyone.

There are a million things I'd love to learn about. Two on my list at present are climbing and sailing. I also want to get better at slacklining. :)
