One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most beautiful thing I've ever seen; In San Francisco, on the muni/metro, I was sitting across from an older latina lady. It was the end of the work day, and she looked tired. The train stopped, and amidst the distracted faces there was a bright, lucid smile. The jolly elder man was wearing a blue blazer, a bright pink scarf, a tweed fedora and a good-sized French flag pin. In one arms was a stack of manilla envelopes stuffed to capacity and in the other was a single, white dandelion. He sat next to the woman and, he with his french accent and she hispanic, talked, flirted and made each other laugh. The man says "You look like you need this more than i do (referencing the dandelion), would you make a wish for me?" The lady replied, "I wouldn't do that, shall we wish together?" At that they smiled, closed their eyes and after a moment's pause, blew, sending their wish floating chaotically throughout the N train. At the next stop, the man got off, tipping his hat as he went, and the lady, still smiling, watched the sunset on the window. I picked my jaw off the ground and still haven't stopped grinning.
