Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To look after those near to me.
Not burn house down with new stove !!
Travel abroad again - it's been a while but I'm getting itchy feet....
ABOUT M
I'm both a home bod and outgoing, and love travelling and meeting new people. You have to love the outdoors living where I do but I'm not fanatical, and I'm just as happy having a nice night in. I volunteer for the YHA so I'm often at a hostel in the Lakes. I'm rubbish at sports, but do force myself to go to the gym. I get depressed by opinionated people (including Mr Trump), and appreciate an open mind, honesty and integrity.
PHILOSOPHY
The only thing you mustn't do is do nothing. Don't judge until you've walked in someones shoes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mainly host as I haven't had the time to visit yet. I will also help with any advice about my area by email or in person if someone stays. If I have time I'll take my visitor on a little tour of the best bits of my area in the Lake District (Ullswater).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Ive had a few visitors, all of whom were interesting and diverse. Not a bad one amoungst them, and welcome back any time. The best thing for me about CS is you get a bit of the wider world turning up to spend a night or two with you when you can't go travelling yourself.
Interests
Travel, walking, reading, film, swapping stories, eating out, cooking, camping.

Music, Movies, and Books
Reading: anything from the classics to modern - like a good story. Every thing from Wuthering Heights to modern stuff, currently reading Peter May, his books are set in Scotland. Films: Music: very eclectic - everything from Muse, Tom Waits to fiddle music. I'm learning to play the fiddle (badly but with determination!) and listen to quite alot of celtic stuff. Don't ask me to play if you value your hearing!!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rescued a cyclist who had hit a boulder coming down Hellvelyn and was severely injured - had to be air lifted by helicopter to hospital, but I managed to remember my first aid training (A,B,C) and might have saved his life!
Teach, Learn, Share
How do you grow old 'gracefully'? In all honesty I have no idea!
*Appreciate your parents - they've been here longer than you
*Don't be frightened to talk about your worries - a problem shared is a problem halved
*Life is too short - imagine where you want to be, then put it into action.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Honesty, warmth, helpfulness.
