About Me

LEELA KRISHNA:

That's my name and it means 'Playful tales of the Lord Krishna'. Krishna is a prominent character in Indian mythology.

BEGINNINGS:

One of my greatest pleasures in life is to taste the local cuisine of the place I'm living in or travelling to. And that desire to understand different cuisines comes from being born and brought up in Hyderabad, a city in peninsular south India. Hyderabad is famous for its Persian rooted gastronomy and it also happens to be the place where I was introduced to tennis, my favorite sport:)

CURRENT LIFE:

I'm based in the beautiful city of Aarhus, Denmark as I'm learning how to become a leader in creating positive sustainable change at a school called KAOSPILOT.

KAOSPILOT is an alternative, a multi-sided education in leadership and entrepreneurship, where students' main source of learning is not necessarily classroom lectures but more so real-life projects that we take up in different parts of the world.

MY FAVOURITE THING :

A meaningful conversation with friends over a beautiful meal that we cooked together at home:)

MY 2ND FAVOURITE THING :

Travelling to actively learn about the different cultures by understanding their: history, festivals, cuisine and habits.

MY FAVOURITE DISH :

Hyderabadi Biryani.

FAVOURITE QUOTE:

"The point is not to agree with everyone, the point is to build empathy to understand other's perspectives."

MY GUIDING PRINCIPLE:

To engage (with curiosity and not prejudice) with people whose values and opinions differ from mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:

I enjoy listening to most genres of music but I'm most captivated by non-lyrical music as I feel I go to different places each time I listen to as there're no lyrics to structure my thoughts.

Getting lost in Ludovico Einaudi's pieces is dearest to me most.

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE:

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

BOOKS:

"The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde

The "Jeeves" Series by P.G Wodehouse

"On Liberty" by John Stuart Mill is a classic, which holds great relevance to the place I come from, India.

"The Palace of Illusions" by Chitra Banerjee is a retelling of the Indian epic, 'The Mahabharat' from the point of view of a woman protagonist.

"The Great Indian Novel" by Shashi Tharoor, an Indian politician as well as former UN diplomat. A fantastic fiction work intertwining Hindi mythology with the Indian history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

(Non-self-indulgent)

My friends and I started Denmark's 1st community fridge located in Aarhus to address the food waste and food poverty situation in our city. The Fridge, 'FællesSKABET' can be accessed 24/7 by anyone who is interested in giving away food or taking some food for themselves.

(self-indulgent)

Last year in February, I decided to address my phobia of water by booking a one-way ticket to do a surfing project on an Island, which is 100km north of the Arctic Circle. It ended up being the craziest experience where I lived in an isolated village with a population of 12 people for 2 months trying to learn how to surf in the Arctic while doing a marketing project for the Northernmost Surf Club in the World.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could also share with you if you're interested in listening to a funny story behind how I got my name, which is a peculiar name even in India.
