About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To constantly improve myself and to clean up my spare bedroom

ABOUT ME

Trying to experience as much as possible! I'm currently in a situation where every two months, I get 30 days off and a round trip ticket anywhere in the world, so I'm kinda going crazy with that...

PHILOSOPHY

Sounds a little pretentious, but I'll take a shot at it.

I guess I do have a “Big Deal” doctrine. If the problem doesn’t constitute an immediate threat to my life, limb or eyesight or that of someone entrusted under my care, it’s not a big deal.

On a related note, if you have an actual “Personal Philosophy” or “Mission Statement” we’re probably not gonna work out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm traveling so much right now that I just threw all my stuff in storage for the time being, but I've hosted for nearly four years.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing but positive. I've hosted amazing people that have brought so much knowledge, food, crazy fun and good energy into my home!

Interests

Motorcycles, motorboating, photography, anything outdoors or in the water, flying, technical scuba diving, monkey training, nerf herding, extreme thumb wrestling, playing croquet with flamingos and hedgehogs.

I'm fascinated by relationships; how and why men and women relate, behavioral psychology and sociology. I love meandering, drunken discussions about the human nature, life, the universe and everything.

Stuff I suck at but am steadily improving on: playing the guitar, reading "significant" books, surfing, ballroom dancing, Spanish, running, sauté, slack-lining

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies by Scorsese, Wes Anderson, Charlie Kaufman, Spike Jonze or Cohen Brothers

Books: Evan Wright, China Mieville, Hunter S. Thompson, John Krakauer, cyberpunk, how-to books, books with nice pictures, 20th century history. Currently reading "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman and feeling bad for being a plain, dumb old American with no Eastern languages or advanced degrees in programming or engineering. Oops. Those fries are almost done...

Music: Old-school jazz and blues, trip-hop, classic rock, Pre-2000 punk, dubstep. Favorite band is the Pixies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once tried to get a half-dislodged snack out of that screw-dispenser in the vending machine by violently shaking it and IT ACTUALLY WORKED. Currently enjoying Central Asia.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I've learned in my recent travels: A dollar bill is exactly six inches long. Chicken breast is the dry white bread of meat and is not fit for human consumption. Ostriches are mean as hell. You can focus yourself out of nitrogen narcosis.

If interested, I will teach you how to make amazing marinara sauce and walnut chocolate chip cookies from scratch.

Countries I’ve Visited

Afghanistan, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Central African Republic, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Denmark, Egypt, France, Guam, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Micronesia, Federated States of, Netherlands, Pakistan, Palau, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom
