Hi, Hola, and Ciao! My name is Leia and I am originally from the United States but have been lucky enough to live abroad over the last 10+ years. After graduating univeristy I had a life changing experience which gave me the courage to move abroad to South Korea and teach English. After finishing my time there I began backpacking through the next year in South America. My drive to continue travelling help land me in Europe and set my roots in Spain and now in Italy.

I consider myself to be a very open person who loves to learn about new cultures and have a better understanding of different mindsets. The things I enjoy the most when visiting a new region or country is to try the local cuisine and to visit the outdoors. Nothing better than sharing stories and laughs over a meal over a walk through nature.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Though I have personally never hosted via couchsurfing I was able to welcomed thousands of guests over many years during my time as Hostel Manager in different cities. I truly enjoyed being able to meet people from around the world and share a common trait of wanting to make new friends.

I had taken a break over the last few years from travelling but I am so excited to start again! Hopefully I have the opportunity to be hosted by a new friend and hear their story as I share mine.

I would say the event that changed my life and led to me to start travelling was cycling from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. The journey took 70 days and was approx. 7000km. Prior to this trip I planned to get a corporate job after graduating but I was able to meet so many new people from different regions of the United States and Canada. My eyes were open to the world and I was able to take a leap of faith to leave the U.S.

I would love to share so many good stories from my travels :) I am lucky to have experienced many things and sometimes not everything went according to plan. As a good friend of mine once said, ¨If everything went right, it wouldn´t be a good story to tell.¨
