About Me

ABOUT ME

Friendly, easy-going, out-going, not fussy about anything really. Definitely a walker and a crazy-foodie. As long as no breaking of bones are involved, I'll likely try everything at least once.

I'm a traveller as much as I'm a tourist. I'll want to see the big churches, museums, castles etc, but I also definitely want to see and know the backyards, the alleys, and that really nice grandma who operates a bakery around the corner. I want to randomly join in Salsa dances on the street, clap along the folksongs in a bar and drink coffee the local way (whether you're Italian, Turkish, English, Greek, Vietnamese).

I'm a History buff, and also a huge fan of local folklore and fairytales, and the bedtime stories and myths children in each country hear when they're young. They were my childhood as much as everyone's else, and I think they're exceptionally beautiful.

The most quirky thing about me hmmmm, would be collecting turtles (ornaments) from across the world. Every time a friend or I myself head out overseas, they bring a turtle uniquely designed and made in that country back as a souvenir.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love to meet new people and what better way of knowing more about the city or country I'm visiting than from the local yourself :) What I know is only what I've read off Wikipedia, but that doesn't include the interesting tidbits of life there!

I have little experience in Couchsurfing but I'm really really looking forward to it. As I mention, I'm not really fussy where I sleep. I'm here to make new friends like most of us are :)

As I'm out of the country now, it's difficult for me to host anyone at the moment.

Interests

Food is my number one passion. I would love to hear all your recommendations on where to grab the best street foods and navigate the nook and crannies of the town.

Sports definitely. I cannot do without moving around for more than 2 weeks. Not doing something intensively active for 2 weeks affects my brain functions negatively and the body gets too restless to do anything right. Handball is my passion, but I windsurf and do freestyle-inline skating on the side.

Music, Movies, and Books

Orson Scott Card is hands down my favourite author, aside from manga.

Love Simon and Garfunkel. Smitten with The Queens. Adore The Eagles. Revere Phil Collins and Bryan Adams. I'm an oldie-rock at heart.

Movies hmmm, Band of Brothers if that counts (must have watched it 4 times), Suits and Sherlock Holmes definitely, Schindler's List, The Sixth Sense, LOTR, Dead Poet's Society (it's a classic!), Avatar omg Avatar.

And anime. Lots of anime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Refereed a Handball tournament under the AHF in Uzbekistan. Superbly unforgettable. (the number of crazy things that happened in the course of time there and back was just unbelievable.)

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
