About Me
Hello,
I'm a 28yo art gallery owner. I studied architecture from 2006-7, then transferred to filmmaking from 2008-2010, graduating with a Bachelor of Communications (Media Arts & Production) at the University Of Technology, Sydney. My final semester, I lived and studied film directing on exchange at San Francisco State University. I spent 6 months living in a hostel dorm room, which was a real eye-opening experience, one which developed my independence, respect and manners. During this exchange experience, I met several lifelong connections with people from all over the world.
In 2011, I travelled Europe for 3 months, reconnecting with many of my international friends in their hometowns. After, I moved to London, UK where I worked for NBCUniversal on the London Olympics Broadcast. In 2013 I moved back to Sydney, working for an auctionhouse selling everything from furniture, art and jewellery, to film props and taxidermy. In early 2015, I spent 3 months travelling Central Europe, on a personal mission to expand my knowledge in international fine art. By late 2016 I was Fine Art Registrar & Specialist, when I resigned to build my own fine art gallery. I have just returned from a month navigating Hong Kong and trekking the Himalayas in Nepal.
I've always loved traveling, and always try to go to new places where I haven't been before. I am an open-minded and very curious person. I'm very understanding and respectful of other people's space and kind hearted. Experiencing different cultures and meeting new and interesting people is something I value a lot. I like to explore the food, culture, arts and people in the new places I visit.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm new to couchsurfing. I was introduced to it by my cousin and his wife, who had actually met couchsurfing in the UK in 2007. They have been consistently impressed and enlightened by the process and the wonderful people they have met along the way. They are at the point where they can travel together, couchsurf together, and even include their two young children. The ability to meet new people, observing and absorbing their culture and customs in close proximity, is extremely appealing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year I was travelling alone through the south of France. I found myself in a small town called Arles. I was having a bad day. It was so incredibly hot, dry and windy. The wind threw me about like a rag doll and i struggled to keep my feet. By late afternoon, I was so stressed I made my way down to the Rhone river to take some photos. The wind threw my camera lens cover into the choppy water. Finally, I gave up, and sat high upon the banks of the river until sun down. After a while the sun disappeared, and so did the wind, until it was eerily quiet, even pleasant. I looked up towards the horizon to notice the lights glow from the bridge up the river, throwing reflections across the still water. This was the spot Vincent Van Gogh painted 'A Starry Night On The Rhone" in 1888, and i had just watched this image appear before me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a background in film & fine art, so I have plenty of practical experience and knowledge to share or to engage in a dialogue.
I collect vinyl, vintage/retro books, eccentric films & eclectic fine art.
I have played guitar for 10 years, and I love to teach people.
I have travelled to over 30 countries and have an abundance of experience and information to share.
I love visiting galleries and museums, festivals and events, and would love company to share these experiences.
