About Me
Hello! I'm Leiya and I'm a college student in New York.
Growing up, I moved around quite a lot: I was born and raised in the busy city of Yokohama, Japan and spent most of my teenage years in Accra, Ghana hopping from one neighborhood to another.
My "nomadic" past always had me wanting to travel and explore the unknown. Now that I'm in college, I have the means to do that!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've come to learn that to get the most out of traveling, you've got to challenge yourself. And I think Couchsurfing is the best way to do that. And of course, I can save a few pennies in that process!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
That's a tough one. I've backpacked through the villages of the Volta Region in Ghana, drunkenly bonded with a British stag do in Tallinn and explored the temples and shrines of Yamagata. I can't really chose which one's the best because each of them have taught me something valuable (yes, even the stag do...)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'll give back in the form of ridiculous stories, thank-you notes and silly impersonations. I'll teach you all that I can about Japanese and Ghanaian culture over a glass of really cheap wine (or tea). I want to learn handy travel tips, exchange embarrassing travel stories and learn about your culture.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My rusty aCapella skills and travel bathroom stories!
