About Me

I spent the majority of my early years selfishly refining my own surroundings while doing very little to aid others in improving their lives. After a chance meeting in a very unlikely place with the most free-spirited person I know to this day I was encouraged to broaden my horizons through couch surfing. While hosting a wide variety of guests from all around the world I began realizing life is experienced through people and places, not possessions. Along with a newfound faith this revelation quickly evolved into a new passion - serving others! Within 2 years of beginning my couch surfing journey I decided to take a break from 14 years of military service and become a missionary. I had the privilege of serving orphans, foreign and domestic, for 2 remarkable years. I'm not sure now that it was a "break" but it was by far the most rewarding period of my life. With a fresh perspective I recently left the mission field and have returned to the uniform, and once again to couch surfing!

Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. - Charles Richards

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meet new people, see new places, experience new things - repeat! I fell in love with the concept of couch surfing years ago. Things have definitely changed since then but I believe the spirit of couch surfing is still alive!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed to the top of mile-high Ghar Mountain in Afghanistan just before sunrise and watched in amazement as a dark and dangerous land momentarily became the most beautiful and peaceful place on earth.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to carve an awesome pumpkin (it's easier than it looks!), cook extraordinary crepes with ordinary ingredients and create super cool light writing photos. I love to teach AND I'm always ready to learn something new. With a little advance notice, I'm happy to tour visitors around this exciting little corner of the world I currently call home - hot spots both on and off the beaten path around Montgomery and nearby cities.

For those truly adventurous travellers who want to experience my twist on southern food, I'm always happy to cook one of many different dishes to satisfy you and your groups appetite, and curiosity!

What I Can Share with Hosts

The craziest couch surfing story you have ever heard, guaranteed! Teaser: it involves a half rotted cow skull, a local mayor, and an eviction notice - you can't make this stuff up!

I'd also love to hear the stories that make you, YOU!

I always try to leave places cleaner than I found them. I'm a jack of all trades and super handy around the house so I'd be more than happy to help with needed repairs if you have any!
