About Me

Hey there, I'm Lena from Germany, 26 years old and a very open-minded person. I'm always curious for new experiences and love to travel, to see new countries and cities and to meet new people.

I just love to discover completely new things and places and that's why I decided to spend a semester abroad far away from home in Guadalajara, Mexico - which turned out to be one of the best experiences ever! Having planned to stay in Guadalajara for only one semester, I fell in love with Mexico, its people and culture and the city, and couldn't do anything else but enlarge my stay there. Oh and did I mention the Mexican food? Don’t know how I could live without it for such a long time!

Back in Germany, I finished my Bachelor's degree in Nuremberg and now live in Münster, in the northern part of Germany, working in a startup company and studying an MBA in Marketing.

Having spent a crazy year in México and having shared a flat with 16 people for one semester in Nuremberg (yes, 16!) I'm quite sure I can deal with almost everything. I am open-minded, laid back and always up for something spontaneous. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've first couchsurfed in 2013 and from there on just fell in love with the vibe of couchsurfing and the community behind it! I directly liked the idea of exploring new places while staying with locals. In my eyes it's a great opportunity to get to know a new country or a new city and to meet local people at the same time. The people I already stayed with always made me feel very welcome and made my stay a unique experience, quite different from only going to the places a guidebook recommends you. I already couchsurfed several times now and I couldn't imagine a better way to travel around. Until now I only had super positive experiences with couchsurfing, met awesome people and have actually made some quite good friends.

I already couchsurfed in Germany, Spain, Italy, the U.S., Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Sweden and Denmark and I'm so looking forward for new experiences to come. :)

Unfortunately I am not able to be a host at the moment, but as soon as I get my own flat I will definitely start hosting people in my place and giving something back to the amazing Couchsurfing community! :)

Interests

I love traveling, being outdoors (especially at the sea or in the mountains), listening to good music, taking photos, hanging out with friends, sports in general (and especially running, gym, playing handball and volleyball, hiking, surfing, skiing), cooking and good foooood. ♥

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- When traveling through South Africa, Namibia and Botswana in 2016, I saw so many wild animals in the national parks. It was absolutely breathtaking to see elephants, lions, zebras and so many other giants just through the window of your car and only a few meters away from you. The first time I spotted a giraffe right next to us I was so overwhelmed that I nearly started to cry!

- Seeing the clearest night sky ever camping in Namib Desert – the most incredible stargazing in such a calm atmosphere away from civilization!
