Présentation
À propos de moi
Pursuing simplicity, connection, and adventure in all its forms!
I grew up in Alaska where my dad taught me to be happy camping in the mountains. When I was 21 I was lost for direction so I went to Ecuador to volunteer in hospitals and then I got as lost as possible. First I discovered how medicine is an amazing way to serve and connect with people all over the world. Then in my travels I was floored by the generosity of humble strangers. I left south America with a karmic debt that powered me through 13 years of schooling.
I just finished all my medical training and am finally traveling the world again, finding a path forward. I have a dream of serving remote communities and finding a home outside the US. There's trepidation as well, so many examples of healthcare workers going overseas and being ineffective or worse. I'm approaching this mission with humility and open mindedness, exploring to find places where I might live and work in the future and network with a goal of returning.
Ultimately it's the journey not the destination. Looking forward to making music and catching waves all the way along!
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
Somehow I've never been surfing on this site! So many couches over the years but always word of mouth, kind strangers on the road. I met a wonderful Israeli traveler who reminded me how amazing this community is so I'm reviving the account. Excited to connect with locals and looking forward to the day I invest in land and can host as well.
Centres d'intérêt
I love any medium for connection, through music, through food, through outdoor recreation... I cherish my relationships from roping up together in the alpine, and I dream of being able to fly paragliders tandem soon!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Oofta, probably the craziest thing I've ever done was solo traverse the Brooks range in Alaska. Fresh out of college, inspired by a guy I met in a park to visit his village, I hitchhiked to coldfoot and met a bush pilot who kindly gave me a free ride into the Arrigetch peaks, only to the opposite side from the Kobuk river! It took me a week and all my food to cross them, bushwhacking through the thick thick, getting lost and spooking grizzlies. I finally found a lake with a climber doing some work on a cabin and he fed me while I worked for him, then I packrafted into the villages, met a doctor, and lived with them three months helping care for their 33 sled dogs. She convinced me to become an MD and I learned so much in that village about another way of life I'd never known. Grateful for that one for sure!!!
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
So much to share, food from different places, music, I love discussing music theory and have been diving deep into ukelele while on the road. Medicine is fascinating as well. My favorite thing to share, though, are amazing experiences in wild places, like riding waves or climbing mountains together.
