About Me

An open minded spontaneous optimist, with a smile on my face about 90% of the time which I aim to spread to your cheeks too =)

Graphic Designer / Cycler / Skater / Cooker and Baker
Procrastinator / Festival Goer / Nature Lover /
Spiritual Embracer and Grower

Constantly endeavouring to be a better person, expand the mind and become a more conscious being on this planet (and maybe another one day)!
I love talking about psychology, philosophy and spirituality; these usually come as a trio, music and art often make it a quintet topic of conversation 😁

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is awesome and has offered some of the most unique experiences when I've been in a new place.
It's an amazing community and tool to meet nice people and make friends around the globe, allowing a more organic way of enveloping oneself in a place and it's culture, learning all the while, and experience them as close to a local as I'm able to! One of my favourite aspects is probably being shown things I would never have been able to experience myself, be it through obscure locations or language barriers. There's a real comfort in exploring the person's hometown with them, a childlike wonderment almost.
The budget side of it is a huge plus!

Music, Movies, and Books

Aaaah, this is super hard for me, especially music, as I'm constantly absorbing new stuff and like things at different times in my life based on mood, people, time, location etc. I’ll give anything a chance though, and usually find a reason to like it =)

⍛MUSIC⍛
I like pretty much all music, there's no genre I don't really listen to! Here are some of my current go to artists/producers:
Caribou, Four Tet, Toumani Diabaté, Ali Farka Touré, Fatoumata Diawara, Nicolas Jaar, Bonobo, Maribou State, Guts, The Skints, Tom Misch, Frank Ocean, Mungo's Hi Fi, Stevie Wonder, Shuggie Otis, Snarky Puppy, Khruagbin, Bassline and bass music at the moment too.

⍛MOVIES / DOCUMENTARIES / SERIES⍛
I like many a moving picture, like my music taste, it is broad and varied, and wholly depends on the mood I'm in what I watch, though it is rare I'll say no watching something, unless it's 'Peppa Pig Goes to Barbie World 7', or something.
Cowspiracy, Parasite, Mr. Robot, Pose, Atypical, Daredevil, Black Mirror, Chefs Table, Adventure Time, The Mighty Boosh, Rick and Morty, South Park, Some Studio Ghibli stuff, and stuff that has philosophical and esoteric themes, including cartoons and anime.

⍛BOOKS⍛
Tao of Pooh, The War of Art, The Experience of Insight, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Oryx and Crake, Year of the Flood, MaddAddam, 1984, Animal Farm, Pocket Guide series: Meditation, Chakras, Yoga.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left the house, once....
...which led me to spending the next 11 months bouncing around India, followed by 2 months in Indonesia! This would become a pivotal part of my life and who I am =)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm practical and hands on; I enjoy repairing things, and have become quite adept at fixing iPhones if I've got my tools handy. Have done my fair share of bike maintenance and repair, can do computer stuff, troubleshoot techy things. Spent a good portion of my life surrounded by design and spend most my time in the kitchen cooking vegan/vegetarian food, so I'm pretty confident in these areas!
One of my favourite things to do is share music, keeping a list of recommendations from people I meet and places I visit; Shazam is my friend, maybe you can be too =)

I'm always looking to learn and share, and always happy to teach if I'm able to!
