Overview
About Me
There is nothing I enjoy more, than a good conversation with interesting people. I'm easily fascinated by a lot of different things and as soon as I find a new interesting topic, I can spend the next half day googling and daydreaming and will probably end up buying a book about it. The things that I'm especially nerdy about at the moment are:
Philosophy, politics, sociology, economics and space travel.
I've done lots of different sports. At the moment my passion is volleyball and surfing.
One of my biggest life goals is to become wise and live by the sea with my family. Imagine a surfing Gandalf. The hair I've got already. The beachhouse, kids, beard and wisdom are yet to come.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I read the book "Couchsurfing in Iran" by Stephan Orth. Its a very entertaining travel diary of his experiences and really makes you feel wanderlust.
Though I've traveled by myself before, I was never lonely, because there were always interesting people to meet in the hostels. The big difference with Couchsurfing is, I hope, to meet local people and not the other travelers. I love the hostel atmosphere, but always kind of the same wherever you are in the world. In my experience anyway.
Music, Movies, and Books
My Favorite Music is Classic Rock, though I can enjoy almost everything else, except perhaps annoying Pop Music.
The movies that I can watch endless times:
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Eastern Promises, Heat, Into the Wild, Godfather and everything by Tarantino
The best books I've read recently:
Submission by Michel Houellebecq, Moral Tribes by Joshua Green, Couchsurfing in Iran by Stephan Orth, The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt, Der Eichmannprozess by Hannah Arendt, The art of being right by Arthur Schopenhauer, Homo Faber by max Frisch, The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I used to paddle in the German Wildwater Rafting National Team and we won the European Championship in the Czech Republik in 2012.
