About Me

Wandering about. Trying to understand things around me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting people. There’s only a handful of things in the world that’s better than a good cup of coffee and a nice conversation.

Interests

Movies. Books. Music. Camping. Photography (I do my documentaries in my free time). Vintage stuff (I drive a car that’s made in 1960). I took interests in a lot of things, and I do take pleasure from sharing them, if you’re interested of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

Orwell is a brilliant writer - I respect him for his perseverance on truth and logical thinking.

Malcom Lowry is a writer I believe who deserves more recognition. Raging alcoholic, but interesting perceptions and fantastic imaginations...which goes the same for a lot of alcoholics.

Music...I listen to a lot of things. I grew up with Rock N Roll, and ventured into Jazz and Folk as an adult. Country as well. Even classical music (Rachmaninov is a god).
- Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans for jazz;
- Phil Ochs is my all time favourite songwriter. A poet of his own kind, and a genius who deserves more recognition.
- Townes Van Zandt. A country legend yet people seldom heard about him. Not quite a poet, but great songwriter.
- I also listen to a lot of movie soundtracks - not Hans Zimmer though. Morricone and John Barry are two of my favourites.

Movies...again I watch all kinds of stuff. But I would say there’s this one scene in Tarkovsky’s The Mirror (Зеркало), when a man looking back while walking away in a field - that, is the pinnacle of cinematography in my opinion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I only fly when for emergencies - so I’ve been travelling from Asia to Europe and Africa by land...which I consider a feat myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am afraid I do not have much to offer. I like talking about things. Things that I believe matters - life, politics, religions (I’m not a religious person, far from that actually)... so I guess the best I can offer is my company.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My company, which sometimes involve alcohol. And conversations, if you enjoy talking. Maybe knowledge - but what I can offer is limited in that regard.
