About Me

CURRENT MISSION(S)

- Exploration and adventure
- Publishing my first book
- Working on some personal projects right now

ABOUT ME

I started traveling right after I graduated high school. My goal is to live life to its fullest, and hopefully inspire a lot of people along the way. My website is www.globalwinger.com, please check it out if you have any concerns about my authenticity or want to know more about what I do.

PHILOSOPHY

I have a tragic optimism that everybody in this world can follow their dreams and we can all work together to create a better world. I stand by this, knowing full well that it's irrational to believe that this will become a reality within my lifetime. However, I'm also following my own dreams and passions to the best of my ability, so I am not wasting my own life while hypocritically idling my time away.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted my Thai friend, who hosted me in Thailand, in Korea, but he already gave me a review and I don't want to bother him.

I am willing to go anywhere and everywhere, to see and do whatever interests me (or try to the best of my ability). This flexibility allows me to do many things and I enjoy every opportunity. I hope that by surfing that I will continue to inspire, entertain and bring a smile to people around me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has been a great way for me to connect with other people from around the world, and to enrich my travels in ways that cannot be compared with anything else. I love the idea of connecting with locals and getting to see firsthand how people around the world eat, drink, travel, laugh, and experience life.

The thing with couchsurfing is that you often get to see the hidden side of cultures and lifestyles of the people you stay with. This is far more rewarding than if you hadn't met anyone new during your travels. I try to make it a point to make a great friendship in each city I visit, no matter if I can get a couch or not. It's very obvious I value these friendships more than the couch itself, which definitely should not, and is not, free.

Interests

- Novelty (In traveling and trying new things)
- Risk taking (In exploration and adventures)
- Writing (Website and novel-writing)
- Personal connections with like-minded people
- Thought-provoking conversations (I'm most comfortable with philosophical topics, but I'm also happy with just about any other idea as a result of the former)

Music, Movies, and Books

I've enjoyed Fight Club and Back to the Future, but I also like action and zombie movies, such as Resident Evil and Transformers.
I enjoy reading philosophical books, but I will also read books that have stupid humor in them. Self-help and leadership books are great.
I used to listen to a lot of rap and electronic music, but traveling changed all of that. I now listen to anything and everything, courtesy of Jamie Telford's expansive music collection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would like to rephrase this question as: One amazing thing I am doing.

I have been searching for the meaning of life for the past 5 years, and I will continue until I have all the answers which is the day I become the greatest asshole in the world. Thankfully, I do not have all the answers, nor will I ever, as I am convinced this is the journey of a lifetime.

Teach, Learn, Share

I truly believe that I can learn from anything, personal conversations are just one medium. This belief does not extend to everyone, and that is okay. However, I do try to the best of my ability to introduce a special twist in all of my conversations with other people. I will play devil's advocate, demand concrete definitions, present abstract ideas and for all purposes manipulate the conversation to where both parties will walk away with a fresh perspective. The exchange of ideas is the most important take-away for me.

But, I am a jack of all trades. If you want to take it easy, just let me know and we'll be sharing funny stories and laughing all night long. "Winging everything" does make for some good stories, and I am always on the lookout for opportunities to improve my storytelling from listening to others or practicing my own craft.
