Hey Guys,
Yeah, you're right: I just signed up for couchsurfing, I'm pretty young compared to most of the people on this page and I have some kind of strange or uncommon occupation at the moment. But let me explain.
I did couchsurfing a few times together with my friends in Europe, but now, I finally overcame my lazyness to get my own account. But yeah, I don't have any references... But there needs to be a first time for everyone in anything, right? ;-)
So, right now, I'm doing a gap year in China to teach English at a primary school in a very tiny village, but I have a quite spacious room in "town" and it's not far from Yangshou, so If you want to see a bit more of this part of Guanxi Province, you're surely welcome in my home!
I'm German and about to start studying Politics there at University from next October onwards. I'm very outgoing, curious, humorous and rational. I like photography, soccer, gaming, blogging - and everything else I haven't tried yet I'm hoping to try out soon. Oh, and of course: food, but who doesn't like that?

I guess it's just pretty much that what everyone else says:
It's a great alternative to normal traveling - you meet new people from all around the globe, people with the same interests or people inspiring you to try out new things. I think it's always great to have somebody by your side at the place you're visiting to give you any kind of advice and tips about the best spots in the city. And of course, the locals make up the whole culture of the place I visit, so why should I say no to the opportunity to see the inside of a house of those "locals" and how they live.
I think it has a big importance if you're really trying to make the most out of your travelling.

Movies: the whole Ryan Gosling Filmography, Documentaries e.g. "The Look Of Silence", Her, Interstellar, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Leviathan, No Country For Old Men, Pulp Fiction, Limitless, Grand Budapest Hotel, ...
Books: Well, I read quite a few books so far, but I can't remember that there was one in the latest time that I'd definitely recommend to anyone.

But why not just hang out together, talk and discuss, share, go out and just compare our experiences we had so far in our lives.
Maybe I'm more useful as a curious padawan than as a Jedi..
