About Me

I used to think riding my bicycle was the best way to travel. You know, just the right speed - not too fast, not too slow. That way I explored Europe for weeks at a time. But then I hiked in the Pyrenees for five weeks. Slow and intense. Now I am torn.
Anyway, now I am living in Cambodia - my first country outside of Europe - and it is eye opening. Since I moved here I have learned so much about us humans. Culture, Language, Politics, … That’s what fascinates me. I am constantly looking forward to learning and discovering new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Of course I initially signed up to be hosted on my bike trips. In groups of four people that never happened.
Now in turn I happen to have an empty room. I’d love to share it with folks from all over the world. Having the opportunity to introduce someone to a new place or even a new culture is always incredible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am totally into classic movies (The Godfather, The Clou, 12 Angry Men). The best ones are the ones, where it’s impossible to predict the plot. An unsolvable conflicts builds up and then there should be a good ending (not necessarily a happy one).
Music wise: anything matching my current mood. It ranges anywhere in between Bon Iver and Kendrick Lamar. Something a little more unusual is welcome as well (see Benjamin Clementine).
On books: I always was a fan of dystopian fiction, but now I am slowly making a transition towards non-fictional literature. As long as it widening my mental horizon anything goes.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ask me about tech and big companies. That’s something I am passionate about. Also if you happen to want to learn how to make websites and apps, I enjoy teaching. Otherwise I love sharing a good discussion about society, big and small questions, and your general thoughts on the world. Company culture is also always good.
