About Me

I think that the most precise definition of myself is: a learner.
Not a student: I don't like studying. But I like a lot learning. In the past years this came mainly in the form of studying, at school and university, of course, and a lot of thinking about the most different topics. But at a certain point this cannot be enough. You might end up slowly flattening yourself, without leaving your comfort zone.
But I was lucky enough to meet a special person, who offered me the chance to see this flattening, and the stimulus to change. I will never stop being grateful to her.

CURRENT MISSION
Understanding myself, finding my equilibrium and my happiness, through personal growth. This will hopefully end up also in finding my own way through life. And I think that knowing different kind of people and cultures might boost this mission in the right direction.

ABOUT ME
Man from Bergamo, in northern Italy, recently moved to Milan. As a typical Bergamo guy, I'm pretty shy and reserved. Pretty much, actually. But I'm trying to work on it (with oscillating results, I have to admit... But I'm doing my best!). If I'm able to break the ice, I also have a peculiar, nerdy sense of humour. And I always do my best to be as respectful and gentle as possible.

I'm a little scientist, as I'm doing my PhD in Physics, in a field mixing Material science and Biology, on a nano scale. I chose this direction because it looked funny and entertaining, and especially it looked very very interesting. As I am a curious mind, always craving for new interesting things and stimuli, be them scientific researches, culture insights, or just a new sport or a great chat.
I consider myself an open-minded person, and sometimes I really enjoy playing the devil's advocate, for the sake of a good discussion.

More or less as a consequence of this all, I have a lot of interests, at different states of development: they may be things I actually do on regular basis, things I started and then left, things that I want to do but not yet had the chance... On this I may be pretty dispersive, I have to admit.
The things I more or less regularly do are sports, reading, watching movies and music listening, even if I'm finding less time for them all every passed year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have to admit, my main reason for subscribing here is not the generous one. It's the selfish one that brings me here. In the sense that I would like to grow, and become a more complete person, and knowing people from different cultures and with different life experiences and different points of view looks like a great chance for that.
But anyway, I'm still more or less a student, and that means I know how difficult it is to plan travels with a tight budget, thus if this could also be helpful to other people, even better!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: I start my daily journey into music from 80s glam rock, and from there I can end up anywhere, be it heavy metal, symphonic, progressive, rap, classical music, electronic, indie, reggae, pop... Wherever my emotions carry me. So you may find me in a Nightwish dark mood, or in a Ricchi e Poveri trash moment, as well as in an ABBA dancing time.

MOVIES: I love watching movies, the lockdown made me suffer a lot due to the long time without being able to enter the theatres. I appreciate the usual pop blockbusters, but at the same time I'm trying to focus a little on higher quality products, and to understand some technical stuff. I could rewatch "Interstellar" on a loop, as well as do a LOTR marathon, and at the same time I love the aesthetics of "Once upon a time in Hollywood".

BOOKS: I used to be a bookworm, with a specialization in fantasy and adventure books. Nowadays I read everything, from adventure novels to philosophy essays. "The Count of Monte Cristo" is one of the greatest adventure novels ever, in my mind. And I love the magic realism genre of Marquez, Allende and Zafon. "Thus spoke Zarathustra" was a very strange experience.
