Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Leonie a third medical student attending clinical school in Stawell, near the Grampians. I am originally from Perth but have lived in various spots in Australia and briefly internationally over the last few years. I'm a generally very chatty person, extremely easy going, enjoy being outdoors, love a good game of cards and am always down for a drink - whether it's a beer or a cup of tea.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
From what I have experienced so far I thoroughly enjoy travelling and believe that it is the best way for a person to discover who they are. I have been astounded by the number of amazing people I've met in such a short amount of time and how quickly we were able to form a meaningful and valuable relationship. I choose to be on couch surfing because can give you a personalised, enhanced view of a city which any travel blog or forum will fail to do. Couch surfing allows a person to get a real feel for a place outside of the main touristy things. Don't get me wrong, the main touristy things are always fun (that's why they are so touristy) but sometimes it's nice to go further than that! On the other hand, I can think of so many cool things to do in Perth that one wouldn't find on lonely planet or trip advisor that I would just love to show to foreigners!
Interests
I am vegan (but non-judgemental about what other people eat), passionate about healthy living, enjoy learning new things (whether it be languages, a countries history or just weird facts, I'm always up for absorbing information), sleeping, eating, meeting new people, exploring, general chatting, nightlife and having a drink or two :p I really like finding nice sceneries and just relaxing there and absorbing the views. Also, I really love dogs and drinking tea & coffee!
Music, Movies, and Books
Pretty open to a range of music and not much of a book reader or movie watcher, however, I am a big fan of TV series; some of my favourites include Brooklyn 99, Friends, How I met your mother, Nikita, Veronica Mars, Greys Anatomy and How to get away with murder. I've recently started enjoying docos, so all recommendations welcome
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking a volcano in Guatemala and camping there whilst watching the adjacent volcano erupt.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about Australian slang (there's A LOT of it and it's quite funny). I know a lot of really random useless facts which I can share with you but I don't think they add much value. I would love to learn about your culture and travels. I'm learning Spanish so I can either share my basic knowledge or if you speak Spanish practice with you :) I would love to cook you some delicious vegan foods and show you that we eat more than just lettuce haha.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a really easy going person who loves to chat and trying new things. I love hearing people's travel stories and sharing my own crazy adventures. Happy to offer guests snacks, tea, toiletries, towels etc.
