Leonil Junior, is studying for a master's degree in Visual Anthropology at the New University of Lisbon and currently develops works of documentary photography, walks through Brazil registering the cultural manifestations that are linked to faith and sacred, among his works One of the most relevant is the "Brazil, from sacred to profane", where the photographer traveled from North to South of Brazil to register the faith and profane festivals of the people, besides registering the various indigenous ethnic groups in Brazil, including the Krahô, Xavante, Yawalapití among others, also has a large collection of images about the Congos and Congados, having also registered the Círio de Nazaré in Belém do Pará-PA and many other cultural expressions of Brazil.
He held several exhibitions and shows of his work in Brazil and around the world, some of which are: "Brazil, a multi-ethnic village" at the Paulista Republican Museum, University of São Paulo. "Rosário dos Pretos" at Sesc and toured Europe with the exhibition Brazil, from Sacred to Profane, passing through England and Belgium.
Because of his records of Brazilian religions and sacred profane manifestations, the photographer has been welcomed by traditional communities so that he can record their customs and help safeguard the ways of praying and celebrating of the Brazilian people.
Leonil also works as a cultural producer, being the curator and director of Cine Rural in the city of Joanópolis-SP, producer of Cine Caramelo in Porto Alegre-RS and several other events and cultural productions.
