About Me
ABOUT ME
I spent a year abroad in a boarding school in England with dozens of youths from all around the world.
Then, I was a volunteer in Ecuador after having finished high school. I worked as an English teacher in a primary school, and German teacher in a university in my city Riobamba. While I loved many intercultural experiences and learning with and from children in the school, I also got aware of my incredible privileges and injustice in the world.
Because of my family and political socialization, I've become quite a social activist in all parts of my life, and right now I'm mostly working in European intercultural projects for the peace organization Service Civil International (SCI).
Right now I live in Taipei, working as an independent journalist for different German media, reporting on Taiwanese politics and social issues.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I got to know which difference it makes to explore a new place with locals and their daily lives rather than in the tourist bubbles of hotels and foreigner places.
Interests
I read a lot, and literature as well as poetry have been a big passion since childhood.
As well, I'm active in a voluntary organization, Service Civil International (SCI). So I lead seminars and other volunteer encounters, especially on the topic of migration.
And also, I'm a passionate language learner - fluent in Chinese, English and Spanish, and I also speak dome Franch and Italian.
I'm always glad to get some basic phrases in any language.
- traveling
- teaching
- volunteering
Music, Movies, and Books
My taste of music really depends on my mood and the setting.
Generally, my music includes old school Reggae, classic Pop (big Beatles fan), classical music and also Folk and Country - most of all Bob Dylan and Neil Young.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've visited quite some amazing places, and maybe the most beautiful thing I have seen in my life was Lake Titicaca, in the highlands of Peru and Bolivia, during sunrise.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've worked as an English and German teacher for a year, so I'm always ready to teach some basics, whether in English, German or Spanish.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can prepare some simple and decent vegetarian food, including pasta, rice, all kinds of spices, tofu and whatever else I find around!
