Learning French and Spanish in 7 months - Possible? We'll see...

ABOUT ME

From January to September I'll be travelling with my partner of five years - David Berkal (feel free to check out his profile). We were in a long distance relationship for four years and are sort of making up for lost time! We'll be spending 4 months in South America (probably Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina - but we're flexible) and three months in France. If all goes according to plan, our trip ends in our happy place - the Burning Man festival. We're taking Spanish classes in SA, and French in Senegal.

We both hope to work internationally- David runs a Volunteer Abroad Program and I'm interested in Human Rights work, I worked for Amnesty International this past summer- and we know that French and Spanish will help us in that work. Also, we're both junkies for a ridiculous challenge :) Most importantly -we share a big love for couchsurfing and can't wait to meet you!

A bit about me:
It's hard for me to think of anything that makes me happier than dancing with friends. Except for maybe dancing with friends, on a beach. Especially if the beach smells nice and there are puppies all around us.

To me a perfect trip includes at least one night-long dancing session (preferably to live music), one deep, great hours long conversation, delicious breakfasts and, if I'm really lucky, a new friend. Anything related to pirates or karaoke is a bonus.

PHILOSOPHY

I always like to try and leave everything a little bit better than I found it. That goes for me too - I like to feel that I'm a little bit fuller, more understanding, less confused by life after every experience.

I feel like I've been raised to be afraid of strangers and I'd like to change that. There is nothing more wonderful than falling into a deep conversation, or having a spontaneous laugh with someone you've just met

I like movies that make me think or laugh - doing both is a bonus. Any music I can dance to. Introduce me to a new book or artist and I'll love you forever.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

For a few months I lived right on the border of Jordan and Israel. On either side of me were amazing and beautiful mountains - yellowish on the Israeli side and reddish on the Jordanian side. Every time it was windy the sand would blow up between them and the Jordanian mountain ranges would disappear behind the sand. It's like they were never even there. When they would come back it was the most beautiful sight.

I've played piano for 12 years and am happy to teach you a bit if you are interested! I'm teaching myself to play guitar and would be forever grateful to anyone who can show me how to play bar chords.

My partner David and I are travelling around South America and France for the next 7 months with the goal of polishing our French and learning Spanish - can you help us???
