About Me

CURRENT MISSION

rewild. resist.

ABOUT ME

I'm living at Plankton, a cooperatively run house in Buffalo, NY. We have a couple of open rooms right now, so come surf the couch! or a loftbed.

Potluck anytime, always supplies.

PHILOSOPHY

There is nothing more beautiful than living with everything you have on your back and being codependent on others. It is the time that I feel most complete. I hope to return the favor one day, and I am always looking for a place to set down. I like things that are simple and close to the ground, and I'm travelling again this summer to work on some farms. I'd like to work for a while, someday, though, working on larger ideas and issues and trying to make systems less wasteful and more responsible. I am a guilty-feeling American, with a sense that I should have a part in the diffusion of empire and the socialization of wealth and opportunity, but feeling sometimes overwhelmed by the American machine. Too honest?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, really. I stayed with a girl in San Fransisco for a little while, another guy in Boulder, and have a cool bounce-around placeshare thing going on with my good friend in Vancouver/Montreal. Hope to couchsurf with her on the road one day.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tom Robbins lover, seen every episode of the Simpsons, like existential literature, political theory, and generally things that challenge the status quo and hope for something better.
i like alot of music, right now this is alot of the dischord bands and other post-hardcore/punk. i like a little bit of everything though.
I'm reading The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. Give her a search on Google video.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There was this time, when I went swimming in the Pacific Ocean and a seal came up and barked in my face.

There was also a very pretty lake in Gambier Island that had thousands of little salamanders, who have to be the loungiest creatures on the planet.

15 or so of the most beautiful peaks and a bay over the town of Seward, Alaska, in one day. The most beautiful hiking trail I've ever been on.

Teach, Learn, Share

I was a Linguistics major in Montreal before I quit to find myself. I still have alot of the Language philosopher in me. Since then, I have been involved in studying some of the ideas underneath Sustainable Development. I have a lot of ideas and love to talk with all sorts of just-world theorists. Geo-globalists, local anarchists, eco-marxists. All kinds.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, United States
