About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore strange new music genres; to seek out new tunes and new ways of playing them; to boldly go where few whistlers have gone before...

ABOUT ME

I'm short (though not exceptionally so for this county) and fidgety. Music is important to me, as are books.
I'm also a gleeful abuser of punctuation.

I'm in a long-distance relationship with my Canadian husband, and we're hoping to live together in his country, but for now I'm living in England.

PHILOSOPHY

"An it harm none, do as thou wilt" comes close enough, really.
I live to learn and I love to connect with new interesting people.
I also really like to be useful, whether that's by listening to someone talk about problems or teaching someone how to do something new.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I've surfed and hosted. Maybe I'll get involved in other ways someday.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had a few couchsurfers, though the first two were before I'd learnt about this site... unfortunately, I'd find it difficult to host, these days, as my younger brother's moved in with his piano, so there's very little space.
In terms of my own surfing experiences, I've stayed with my first two surfers, plus two complete strangers in Seattle.

My husband (then boyfriend) went on a trip to Toronto with me in the summer of 2012, where we couchsurfed with four different hosts over the course of a week. It was nice to have a chance to actually get to know the people who'd allowed us to stay!

Interests

Playing and listening to music, languages, computers, books, being snarky and reading about snarky characters. Inventing odd recipes, calling my singing teacher sadistic, crocheting gloves and slippers.
People are the other big interest of mine; I like learning about individuals and the ways they think.

...Yes, ok, I'm sorry. That -was- the short version.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

20,000 people holding hands across a field near Cropredy at midnight, all singing "if you really mean it, it all comes 'round again" and... really meaning it.

Getting married on top of a mountain, five thousand miles away from home, and with a ring-bearer I'd never met before. Having a thumb war to decide who'd ring whom.
...You know, maybe the amazing thing was that we found a marriage commissioner willing to let us do all of that. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can provide a basic grounding in pretty much any instrument I own (and a few I've borrowed) and also a crash course on dealing with Aspergic types through practical experience...

Interested in learning almost anything, though trying to teach me statistics would be a complete waste of time. It's one of the subjects at which I'm truly abysmal.
